Americans are split on whether the Supreme Court should stay at 9 justices or get a major overhaul — and the debate is getting louder on Capitol Hill.
A Republican-backed constitutional amendment to permanently lock SCOTUS at 9 justices failed in the House after falling short of the two-thirds majority needed. Meanwhile, Democrats have introduced competing proposals to expand the bench to 13, impose 18-year term limits, and enforce new ethics standards.
Fox News Digital spoke with voters outside the Capitol, and the divide was sharp. Derek from D.C. argued more justices would force broader consensus. Tim from D.C. said the push to expand is purely political. Carl from Texas didn't mince words: "If we're gonna change the size we need to do it now. If you're going to pack the court, let's pack it now."
