Sorry, 1980s. Bob Jones University v. United States, 461 U.S. 574 (1983). This is the case I'm thinking about. It was about racial discrimination -- the IRS could take away the college's tax exempt status.

In that case, not a penny of state money should ever be sent to Catholic schools. This issue was solved in the early 1970s with that southern college that wouldn't admit black people.
