Me personally, I can’t get behind EFC fans demanding change & to put sentimentality behind us, but then want Lee Carsley in what would be his first club job ever at 52yrs old It’s not this adventurous apt everyone seemingly wants, I’d say it’s just pure sentiment Just my view
Im going to nominate Lee Carsley as the next Everton manager, with a return to a director of football model, where recruitment is dictated by them and not the manager.

He ticks a box of “worked with young players” No experience in dealing with club games week to week, no experience of the pressures that brings Just for context on the age, it isn’t everything But he’d currently be third oldest manager in the PL, getting his first club job!

Everton Wingers have scored 9 goals total since the start of last season. 7 in open play. It’s 2026 we cant solely blame our Striker for lack of goals….

I think reality is, as many have said Everton are just stuck now until ownership is sorted Manager is underperforming, but so are majority of the squad. Sad truth is just about getting by until new owners come in, whilst Hoping they’re the right ones.

Comes from the top Recruitment has been really poor at Everton for years & this committee type leadership has shown no signs of it stopping New owners & a proper footballing set up is absolutely needed.
Quite bored of it all tbh Every summer it feels they sign players without knowing what to do with them, ownership questions again. Get to every summer needing the exact same things, never addressed Constant loop of just Shite

With every passing game you watch Everton You wonder how on earth Folarin Balogun would have handled playing in a striker role like this so isolated 😂

Everton’s midfield problems mapped out perfectly there, even if it is a scenario of circumstance Midfielder who is most tasked to be sat a bit deeper, is pressing the CB EFC press bypassed easily & Declan rice is beyond the whole midfield 3 Really poor

More I think about it, I think Utd got the idea right of Amorim starting a project, just the tactical stubbornness wasn’t right I think a Nagelsmann appointment whilst being open in communication on a 2-3yr plan would be something to look at Whether that would be acceptable 🤷🏼‍♂️
Don’t think Howe is the one either though. There isn’t anyone out there

Man Utd problems go beyond managers Howe/Nagelsmann will inevitably be linked, but Utd are left with an imbalanced squad built around different managers coming/going At some point, they need to identify a long-term footballing identity, not based on leaping manager to manager

This may need an attitude of short term pain for long term gain Because it just feels just way too far gone now

Como under FĂ bregas are a loose example of this. They identified opportunities at clubs like Real Madrid, where talented youngsters have limited first-team space EFC should be looking to exploit that similar market, there real value in giving these type players a platform.
Surprised clubs arent eyeing Chelseas Cobham grads Benefits of signing players with blocked dev. or caught in sheer amount of players @ CFC could be big for other PL/C'Ship sides S'hampton proved profit with Lavia & Livramento, players looking to be lost at sea with no pathways

Squad harmony isn't about how many good players you have. It's about whether the ones not playing believe the process is fair. Three coaches showed three signals a director can look for. Roles explained in advance. Mikel Arteta on Myles Lewis-Skelly, per @Arsenal "We always made him aware... to be prepared and to understand the role." On Jurrien Timber and Ben White, competing for one shirt: "when somebody plays, the other one is there to support him." Credit for the player who waited. @Wolves Cesar Peixoto after a win at Burnley: "it's a victory for the whole squad." On Tawanda Chirewa: "he works well and he's waited for his opportunity." Selection explained openly. @MFKKarvina Roman West, after beating Dukla Praha in a game framed as the fight for first place in the Czech second tier, per DenĂk: "nobody can say they didn't get a chance". This from a coach who described a squad that had fallen apart. When this applies: heavy fixture lists, bigger squads, any rebuild. More squad players means more who can drift. A coach who does none of the three needs a bigger budget, because unhappy squad players become sales at a discount. Watch out for: - Versatility sold as opportunity, then no minutes. - Two signings for one position whose personalities can't share it. - Assuming a quiet bench is a happy one. Bench checklist: 1. Ask coaching candidates how they keep non-starters invested. 2. Recruit position pairs, not just positions. Check character in references. 3. Track squad players' minutes and mood. 4. Expect role changes explained before the game. 5. In a rebuild, value transparent selection as highly as tactics. What would your fourth-choice midfielder say about how your coach picks the team?

this is the best way i've seen it put i like Moyes, he has his faults & can be frustrating, but he is what he is & won't change at this point does what it says on the tin & he been in the game long enough for everyone to know what you're getting, so easier to acknowledge that.
Its far easier to understand Moyes when you remember what he does and has always prioritised Culture, environment, personality, emotional maturity, resilience, discipline, leadership Rifghtly or wrongly, this typically lends itself to older players

Every season, EFC fans point to Brighton/Brentford as examples of how a modern club should operate & wish for similar it all comes back to identity, EFC have lacked solidly planned direction, amongst identity crisis for years It starts at the top! What do Everton want to be?

it not as simple as sign young players, once you have them then what? how do you want to play? do players you're signing fit that? does your coach? are transfers heavy reliant on coach input? are they safeguarded? so much more than just 'sign young players, hope for the best'

every club thinks this by the way "if only we had the hardest position to find nailed down" they need someone clinical, it's the easiest thing to say, that & they need to be 'organised' why is it never 'they need an attack to chip in & get 30 between them'
Stuart Pearce says Everton are a striker away from qualifying for European football

this isn't even a Barry defence, if you can get better go do it i don't really care but it just think it's so lazy to say "well if they had a 20 goal striker they'd be decent" it's stating the obvious is it just the striker that needs to be better in attack?

It comes down to how can Everton become an environment for players/staff to succeed That can only come from the very top Everton as a club haven’t been an environment for - managers to succeed - players to grow effectively - scouts/transfers to be able to take calculated risk
An interesting exercise for Everton fans. How many players from our starting 11 against Chelsea would get into Brighton’s team? Be honest with yourself. It’s a good test of how many of our players are genuinely at the level Everton should be aiming for.

Probably happens often & I just miss it (probs helped there wasn’t anything else to look at in that second half haha) When George & Grealish did a brief swap of sides in the second half, KDH seemingly swapped with Armstrong too Dunno why it got my attention but seemed odd 😂
