🐶🚨The @NatPoliceAssoc is pleased to endorse the K–9 Hero Act of 2026 (H.R. 9664), legislation introduced by @RepVanOrden.
It would establish a grant program to help cover veterinary expenses for retired federal dogs, including military dogs and law enforcement K-9s.
Nonprofit organizations that have a primary mission of supporting retired working federal dogs would be eligible to apply for these grants.
These K-9 heroes don't receive medical benefits in retirement. When a dog is retired, the responsibility for veterinary expenses falls on the caregiver, which is often the handler.
Working federal dogs spend their lives serving our nation. We can repay that sacrifice by ensuring they have access to veterinary care once retired.
Please ask your congressperson to support this important bill. 🐕

A special thank you to the @projectk9hero team and retired K-9 Pito for making the trip to visit our facility and for the incredible work you do for these heroes after their service ends.
