JD Vance wants you poorer and calls it happiness.
By every metric of human dignity and prosperity, liberal globalization wins.
Postliberal declinism loses.
It is a failed ideology of the past that belongs to stay in the dustbin of history.
This is one of the most effective pieces of opposition research on Vance in a year.
He's literally saying, clearly and in public, that he thinks it's bad that things are cheap for consumers, and he wants to end one of America's greatest privileges and strategic advantages of holding world's reserve currency.
Republicans, wake up to where your party is headed.
If this ideology isn't extracted from the party root and stem, America will simply never recover from this.

Governments must serve the people.
All people are created equal.
Your life is yours to live.
Peace requires strength.
Free enterprise creates abundance.
Truth exists and it matters.
The status quo is unacceptable.
If you agree, you're a liberal.

The reflecting pool is a microcosm of what happens when you replace competence with loyalty and sycophancy at every level of government.
Even the most basic functions of the state become dysfunctional.

Liberalism isn't a moderate, centrist philosophy.
It was radical when it was born.
It remains radical today.
Any ideology that centers the dignity of the individual and trusts in the potential of humanity is fundamentally at odds with the views that dominate politics today.

America has been here before.
Americans have suffered greater than this.
As it was then, so it is today:
The best is yet to come.

We hold these truths to be self evident -
-we are all of equal moral worth
-we have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
That’s the liberal worldview.

"It may be that a free society as we have known it carries in itself the forces of its own destruction, that once freedom has been achieved it is taken for granted and ceases to be valued, and that the free growth of ideas which is the essence of a free society will bring about the destruction of the foundations on which it depends...
Does this mean that freedom is valued only when it is lost, that the world must everywhere go through a dark phase of socialist totalitarianism before the forces of freedom can gather strength anew? It may be so, but I hope it need not be...
If we are to avoid such a development we must be able to offer a new liberal program which appeals to the imagination.
We must make the building of a free society once more an intellectual adventure, a deed of courage."
— Friedrich Hayek
