One glaring (sorry) mistake in this article is the spot location. Joan Vickers sited study used 2 groups. I group marked with the dot on top, the other with the dot at the rear scrim, still visible from address. The later group had surprisingly better “quiet eye” success. – at Florida, USA
Most golfers are guilty of allowing their eyes to dart in all directions when standing over a putt.
This drill will get you to focus in a way that leads to making more putts: golf.social/2X7yVBk
Those who have attended my clinics or had private instruction with me know…. Never Leave A Putt Short!
Ryan Palmer just left his eagle putt short on 18! One roll short! Foot by pace reveals or scores! Focused Practice!

Trust me, your day will be better for having this on your timeline

Foot by pace reveals so much about the next putt. A putt left short never had a chance nor did it reveal anything useful. Dime sized entry target, foot by pace! Play out of your mind!
Visualization is key! How wide is the path the ball can roll on and make? With proper pace it’s 4” wide. So why not use that path visually. I see a highlighted or dark line as wide as a roll of toilet paper! Many of my clinic attendees have seen this surprise played out by me.
How much more confident would you be if you knew your make percentage from inside 10’ was 75-80%. It only takes a month of twice weekly focused practice. Play out of your mind!

Preshot routine: Ball down, line set. Approach the ball. Build stance, grip, step back one club from address. With eyes on the entry point make 3 continuous strokes hold the finish. You’ve just allowed the non conscious to adjust to proper pace. Step in no regrip breath execute!
Hey @JDSpradlin this one’s for you today! Pour it on eh! 🇨🇦
Do you aim “ball in hand” while in your pre-shot routine? Elbow at your hip, ball in front. Crouch to spot. It becomes second nature to get it right. This is where the breathing starts. Play out of your mind!
A question for professionals who fit putters. @rossmacleodputt
How do you determine dominant eye? It is important!
My method is to ask players to use their dominant hand and index finger to shoot me in the nose from 6-8 feet. You’ll see the aim is from the dominant eye. Simple!
Let’s talk about focused practice. I am troubled by so many videos of players putting…. Rolling the ball into position wit your foot or putter is a waste of time. Make each putt a full rehearsal of your preshot routine! Train your brain! The target is dime sized entry!
Perfect timing! @JDSpradlin just working on my Cap’n Jack’s when you play Jessie Rice singing about the Abaco! Looking forward to next week at the Casa in Key West! Cheers! Parrothead Glen.

I was out and about in Daytona Beach today when I noted that it seems @JDSpradlin has taken on a sideline.
JD if you’re running around town stop by Halifax Harbor Marina for a bourbon. Cheers, pirate!
