AI has a funny way of deceiving people into thinking that they can do everything on their own.
AI Vibe Coding? Imagine hiring an engineer who knows what they are doing instead who can vibe code.
AI video editing? Imagine hiring an agentic editor who can now edit 10x more than before.
Building an AI enabled brand? Imagine what a person who has built a brand can do in terms of damage.
The only people getting the 10x use cases are people who were deep experts in their thing before AI.
in short, hiring the cracked team member is still the unlock and will continue being the unlock

Kids make men more productive, because the amount of time "adults" expect you to waste with them is offensive. With kids, you avoid the peer pressure and other nonsense. "Let's check this new restaurant out." Hello? Are we 5? The addiction to novelty is a scourge.

You can tell which is your most important meeting of the week, because that's the meeting when your Mac will randomly choose to update its OS.

Growing older is grappling with the realization that my schizophrenic relative with paranoid delusions has a higher hit rate than the people who dismiss him.
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners.
Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads.
Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was.
Got a root shell.
then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems.
This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

The architecture school is always the ugliest building on any American campus since it was built according the lights of whatever trendy architectural fad.
Well known empirical fact.
I visited Wurster Hall at UC Berkeley today. It was designed by, and currently houses, the architecture faculty.
The UC Berkeley website notes that "Wurster is often voted Berkeley's ugliest building."
I visited because I was curious about whether it would in person seem as unattractive as it does in photos. And, in short: it does. It's gaunt, austere, and filmed in grime. On an elysian campus, it stands out for its bleak hostility. It reminds me of the German submarine base in Bordeaux.
The UC Berkeley page agrees that it was never designed to be attractive, quoting the curator of their design archives: “Wurster and his handpicked architects didn’t want anything romantic, or sentimental — they hated the idea of ‘making pretty buildings. They wanted a serious building.”
I guess we have to concede success relative to their stated goals, but it does make one wonder what it all says about architecture as a discipline.

It's amusing to read that Paris looters are discovering the watches they stole from Rolex and Patek Philippe stores are worthless shop units without working movements and secondly that all the Apple phones are display technology that locked the moment they left the store.

The funniest thing about Airbnb owners crashing out on threads is that their main response to everyone is "go stay in a hotel then" without somehow realizing that people have decided to stay in hotels instead and this is Airbnb trying to bring people back.

Too many people with zero customer service skills decided they wanted to run a single Ritz Carlton and provide Motel 6 service. If you want to see some Karen’s losing their ever loving minds over this new policy, go lurk in the Airbnb & STR Facebook groups. “Boycott! Strike!” Man, get over yourselves. People are on vacation AND they pay you a “cleaning fee”.

I have a completely unscientific theory about Michelin restaurants:
1 star: Fantastic. Great food, serious cooking, no nonsense.
2 stars: Often unbearable. Haute cuisine at its most self-conscious. 14 courses, tweezers, foam, and an elaborate philosophical explanation of a carrot.
3 stars: Somehow fantastic again. The absurdity becomes so extreme, the execution so extraordinary, that it transcends pretension and becomes art.
The Michelin paradox: 1 is great, 2 is terrible, 3 is sublime.

Staying at Airbnb’s became too stressful. Checking out you’d have to take a video of the place so that the “host” didn’t make something up. I hope the company fails. They let this stuff go on for several years too long.
