In order to maintain a calm and peaceful environment, it is important to acknowledge and address the underlying issues contributing to the conflict in Palestine. The root problem lies in the occupation, which leads to widespread violations against humanity, a lack of justice and equality, and a disregard for the rights and dignity of Palestinian women, children, and elderly. Additionally, the construction of modern settlements on the ancestral lands of the indigenous people further exacerbates the situation.

The current war may spell the end of any credibility the U.S. and West have left to promote or defend human rights and international humanitarian law. It seems they can be suspended for the self-defense of those with whom we feel solidarity at the expense of those we dehumanize.
