Trauma surgery is unique among the surgical specialties in that 85% of the daily work could be done by others. It’s that last 15% where the true value of the specialty lies, and it’s the whole point for our existence. Often this isn’t understood, and trauma becomes undervalued.

"There's only so many times you can walk into a room and tell someone they're not coming home tomorrow. It breaks your heart when you hear someone screaming mommy or daddy. It just becomes too hard day in and day out." - Dr. Jason Smith on the toll of gun violence in Louisville

Was lucky enough to be able to make it to @BrighamSurgery Chief Residents Grand Rounds to hear @jdimick1 talk about leadership. What a treat. It was quite possible one of the most thoughtful and impressive reflection on surgical leadership I’ve ever heard. So much to learn.

All I’m saying is a lot of people talk pretty about health equity, but most of them don’t want to put in the actual work. ☕️💅

I had this exact experience when I met @CPark_MD at AAST when I was an SCC fellow. I think I played it cool.
What is an introvert to do when they are at the Disney World of surgery conferences and they see someone they follow and fangirl on Twitter? Yeah imma just look down at my phone and tweet about it.
