'If the threat to European security is genuinely grave, and increased UK-EU cooperation is vital to security, then why are both sides holding up progress over relatively minor domestic priorities and legacy disagreements?' notes Ed Arnold.

When the Cold War ended 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧🇳🇴🇩🇰🇩🇪🇳🇱 had at their disposal almost 200 frigates
Capabilities have obviously evolved since then, the Russian Northern fleet is not the behemoth it once was & frigates do not conduct ASW in isolation, but those countries today are down to about 45
A new report by William Freer, published by the Council on Geostrategy, has warned that the UK’s ability to track and neutralise hostile submarines is at risk due to a shrinking fleet.

Our collective analysis of what Trump means for Europe. Conclusion: Leaders of the EU & other European countries shd use Trump’s second term as an opportunity to address long-term economic & security shortcomings, but they'll need to work together better than they currently do.
Trump’s policies promise to usher in an era in which the US economy continues to expand strongly whilst hurting growth in the rest of the world – especially in large exporting economies like the eurozone and China. 🇺🇸 🇪🇺
