My cousin killed by the state. Kidnapped, then recovered but wasn't given proper care and eventually died last night. He also lost his mother a few years ago and was only in Karachi to earn bread and butter for his 4 young siblings. Who's responsible? @BBhuttoZardari @AsadAToor
Update on Kailash. He was found by a Chipa driver lying on the road. He's currently admitted to Jinnah Hospital with severe head injuries and is unconscious. Reasons unknown (his phone and cash are missing). @AsadAToor @DrNassraKhan @PPP_Org

How Pakistan made the world over 3 trillion dollars richer
On April 7, the world edged toward Trump's 8pm ultimatum that "a whole civilization will die tonight." By mid-afternoon, Polymarket gave less than a 5% chance for a ceasefire. But then in a flurry of last-minute diplomacy led by Pakistan's PM Shehbaz Sharif, ceasefire odds shifted from near-impossibility to 100%, as both U.S. and Iranian leadership publicly acknowledged the important role played by Pakistan.
The sharp shift in probability of ceasefire from near-zero to certainty, allows us to estimate cleanly the market value of Pakistan's successful diplomacy. There was a sharp jump of 2.9% in S&P500 around the ceasefire announcement. The reaction was similar the world over.
Global markets represent about $125T, so a 2.9% jump represents a gain of 3.6 trillion dollars for the world. Pakistan helped create TEN times its own GDP for the world!
For me, the best part is not the trillions of dollar, but seeing Pakistan on the world stage as a peace maker.
I hope Pakistan runs with this new identity by promoting peace not only abroad, but also at home. That means moving away from politics of division and exclusion, and treating every citizen as its own.

Nothing in this article convinced me that AI does anything but harm graduate students. No, it does not help you read 50 papers in a month rather than a year. If you actually 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 those papers, it will take a year, & that's part of the training. nature.com/articles/d41586-0…

Finally! Congrats to all those who struggled so hard for his release.
Ali Wazir has finally been released from Sukkur Jail today after being detained since 3 Aug 2024. Dozens of fake and fabricated FIRs, repeated 3-MPO detention orders, and transfers across Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh were used to prolong his imprisonment.

Vote for @AsadAToor! He has always stood with the disenfranchised. He will never let you down. #VoteforAsad

My cousin Kailash Kumar is missing from Golden Market, Karachi, for three days. Authorities haven't helped. His mother died only a few years ago. He was visiting to buy clothes for his sisters' wedding, but now he's missing. #DIGKHI @PPP_Org @HamidMirPAK @AsadAToor @asmashirazi

Yalda Hakim parroted Hindutva's narrative during Indian aggression against Pakistan . She used Zionist talking points to justify Israeli attack on Iran. Not surprising that she is now promoting Taliban's narrative against Pakistan. Yalda is a vile propagandist, not a journalist.
One can do wonders with data. Brilliant work. Must watch the rigged elections of GE 2024 in Pakistan.
In Pakistan's 2024 general elections, MQM-P won the majority of National Assembly seats in Karachi, seventeen constituencies according to the Election Commission. But did the returned candidates really win, or were results altered after polls closed?
This investigation examines three Karachi constituencies: NA-242 (Mustafa Kamal vs Dawa Khan Sabir), NA-238 (Sadiq Iftikhar vs Haleem Adil Sheikh), and NA-236 (Hassaan Sabir vs Alamgir Khan).
We compared National and Provincial Assembly results, analyzed turnout patterns, examined Form 45 documents, and identified mathematical fingerprints revealing vote manipulation.

PAKISTAN: Today’s arrest of human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali is the latest escalation in a sustained campaign of judicial harassment and intimidation by the Pakistani authorities.
Imaan and Hadi were arrested today while on their way to a court hearing and eyewitnesses report that law enforcement officials used undue force against both the lawyers and no reasons were provided at the time of arrest, raising serious concerns about their safety.
Amnesty International is alarmed by the manner of the arrest, lack of adherence to due process and by the authorities’ continued pursuit of spurious and retaliatory cases aimed solely at silencing Imaan and Hadi for their human rights work and dissent. This familiar playbook of harassment and intimidation must end. Amnesty International calls on the Pakistani authorities to immediately release Imaan Mazari‑Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha and drop all charges targeting them solely for their work defending human rights.
PAKISTAN: Responding to the cancellation of bail of lawyers and human rights defenders Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha and an order to immediately arrest them in a bogus case relating to “anti-state” tweets, Amnesty International said:
“This baseless trial of Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha is a blatant abuse of the justice system. Pakistani authorities must end the judicial harassment and coercive tactics used to silence dissent and intimidate those who defend human rights.
The charges have been brought against Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chattha solely for the peaceful exercise of their human rights and carrying out their professional duties. Authorities must immediately drop all charges against them and rescind the orders for their arrest.”

I truly wish postcolonial literature and studies were part of the school curriculum across the world.
It would awaken people to the invisible chains of oppression and de-normalize tyranny, inequality, and violence as “given” reality.
Most importantly, it would restore agency to those who have suffered too long under false promises of hope and the misguided virtue of “tolerance” toward injustice.
