Whenever it rains and there’s snow melt there could be a lot of scenes with snow and ice clogging storm drains, causing localized flooding around drains and on streets. ☔ You can help prevent this flooding by keeping your local storm drains, like this one, clear this winter.

Sidewalk covered in compacted snow and ice? If your shovel can't do the job, try an ice chisel instead! Using the right tools will help you avoid unnecessary salt and deicing chemicals, which find their way into our rivers, lakes and groundwater. #MWMOgoodneighbor #smartsalting

It snowed! Now what??
1. Shovel before snow turns to ice
2. Select sand for traction
3. Scatter salt only where you need it
4. Sweep up leftover salt and sand to reuse
Because one teaspoon of salt permanently pollutes five gallons of water.

If you haven't winterized your #rainbarrel yet, it's about that time of year! Don't let the water freeze and damage your barrel. Make sure to drain it, disconnect it from your downspout, remove and clean the components, rinse it out and store it somewhere safe from the elements.
