The minimum UKRI PhD stipend is £16,062 for 2022/23.
Although PhDs are training and do not legally require minimum wage, a comparison is worthwhile:
National minimum wage (age 21-23) is £19,094 (40h/week).
After tax that's £16,836.
Living wage is £19,760 (£17,280 after tax).

I'm so excited that we managed to get this work in to @angew_chem. It was a challenging project that represented a large portion of my PhD work. It really would have not of been possible without the assistance of some excellent collaborators which I am extremely grateful for.
We are delighted to share that the groups work on the reactivity of Mn metal enabled by ball milling has now been published in @angew_chem.
Please take a look and see how the use of #mechanochemistry was essential to unlock this reactivity.

During my summer placement last year whilst working with Dr Morrill, I contributed towards this paper
I'm only at the beginning of my career in chemistry, so I'm very proud to have contributed towards a published piece of work already!

A little more detail on the visibility of #CrewDragon this evening in the UK, assuming the launch goes ahead. ISS comes over first (at the time of launch), followed by the capsule about 25 mins later. ISS will be closer to the horizon. Info from www.heavens-above
