Signore e signori, Michelin ci sorprende e porta una specifica non ordinaria anche a Sepang. In antitesi con quanto comunicato ad inizio stagione ("Non vi saranno novità in termini di mescole e profili"). In sostanza, per questo Gran Premio, l'azienda del Bibendum aveva previsto un'allocazione particolare degli pneumatici in previsione della riasfaltatura dell'intero nastro di asfalto di Sepang. Lavori che non ci sono stati: l'asfalto è infatti lo stesso del 2025.
In ogni caso Michelin ha deciso di non rivedere in toto la sua allocation: metterà a disposizione la nuova specifica di mescola media (M) al posteriore (come risaputo più rigida) accanto alle specifiche 2025 di mescola morbida (S) e media (quest'ultima verrà intesa per il weekend come la dura, H se preferite).
Lo scorso anno si corse con la S anche la gara lunga, con svariati piloti che non utilizzarono l'abbassatore nell'arco della contesa per portarla a fine vita. Pertanto questa nuova M gioverà sicuramente a qualcuno (sia chiaro: nessuna dietrologia, bensì una mera analisi dei fatti).

Aprilia ha confirmado esta mañana en su comunicado que Jorge Martín viaja a Malasia. Dicen que está siguiendo el tratamiento y que su estado será evaluado en los próximos días.

🚨 Llegan buenas noticias desde Aprilia con Martín dentro de la gravedad del asunto teniendo en cuenta lo deportivo:
Jorge Martín se sometió a un TAC para evaluar su estado tras la lesión sufrida ayer. La única lesión confirmada es una fractura no desplazada del radio distal. Por este motivo, el piloto no regresará a España y recibirá el tratamiento necesario durante los próximos días.

También os digo, para mí es falta de previsión por parte del campeonato. En 2023 hubo una situación parecida y se adelantó la carrera al sábado.

Poor visibility prevented the medical helicopter from operating safely today, resulting in the cancellation of Sunday’s on-track activities at the MotoGP Grand Prix of Australia 2026.
We know this is an incredibly disappointing outcome for fans, teams and everyone who has contributed to the event. Safety must always come first, and racing cannot take place without the medical helicopter able to operate.
To every fan who came to Phillip Island today, despite the conditions, thank you. Your support is a powerful reminder of the love for MotoGP and the special place Phillip Island holds in Australian motorsport.
We are working with our ticketing partners to facilitate the process for full refunds for Sunday ticketholders and partial refunds for multi-day ticketholders.*
While this is not the way anyone wanted MotoGP’s time at Phillip Island to conclude, it does not diminish the incredible legacy of this event. We thank the fans, riders, teams, officials, volunteers, partners and the Phillip Island community who have made it so special over so many years.

After the race, Fernandez went straight to a medical assessment with the MotoGP Medical Director and it was found that while the finger fracture is stable, there is inflammation of the soft tissue around the fracture. He has now been declared unfit to take part in the Grand Prix of Australia, on Sunday and will travel to Malaysia for a further medical assessment, on Thursday, to determine if he is able to ride at Sepang.
