Trump’s oil deal with Venezuela was negotiated in secret. Now we know why. The contract just leaked, and it doesn’t say what Trump says it says.
What it does say is that we bought 35 percent of a company for a penny a share. The company is run by Alejandro Betancourt, a Venezuelan businessman who’s been investigated for money laundering in Switzerland, Spain, and the United States. DOJ officials reportedly asked foreign governments to close those investigations and let him travel.
The parent company is registered through a Barbados shell, so nobody can see who the other owners are. Any dispute goes to a court in Texas. One person involved said it was built to insulate the deal from future administrations.
The company pumps about 200,000 barrels a day. America burns through that in 15 minutes. If this were a good deal, they wouldn’t have had to hide it. I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

Ken Paxton’s office offered a man who had faced child-sex-abuse charges a plea deal with one day in jail and no Texas sex-offender registration. Paxton now brags the man did 60. Hoffman served less than a month.
Donors named in the Epstein files gave nearly $4.7 million to Mike Rogers (MI) and groups backing him. Then Rogers said we have to “protect somebody who got on an airplane and rode with him.”
Michael Whatley (NC) appointed a convicted child sex offender to NC GOP leadership and kept him there after parents objected. Trump called Whatley “fantastic.”
As Arizona Senate president, Andy Biggs helped kill a bill to replace the police force in Colorado City, where Warren Jeffs’ child-rape cult held power. Marshals had helped return an underage bride who fled. Biggs says, “I knew what was going on.” And he did nothing when he could have.
Mike Collins (GA) voted against forcing the Epstein files out. Roger Marshall (KS) and Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS) voted to block an amendment that would have required their release. Now Epstein survivors are on TV telling voters what those votes meant.

There is a very disturbing trend being seen in early voting. Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio are reporting difficulties getting the machines to accept democratic votes. The machines change them back to Republican unless the voter persists, pressing several times to get the correct vote to go through.
Check your machine, check to see that it accepted the correct vote. Make sure your voice counts.

Neil Bush, the brother of former President George W. Bush and son of the late President George H.W. Bush, has posted a political message on Facebook for the first time, saying he voted for James Talarico for US Senate over Ken Paxton.
Bush says he isn't just voting for Talarico to oppose Paxton, but that he has come to admire Talarico.

The Senate voted 86-11 for the bill that Trump has decided to ignore. Only one member of Trump’s own party (Rand Paul) voted against the bill. You’d think Republicans in the Senate who voted 49-1 in favor of the bill would be livid rather than timid.
Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.
