If you launched it as a beta, clearly announced your intentions with the platform, and made it clear from the jump this was not a stolen fork of Brawlback, and offered to work with the team ahead of time (even if they said no), this would have went over much better. Your failure was largely in the comms presentation, and lack of collaborative spirit. You need to take the feedback and learn to be a better builder in public. The backlash was a bit overstated but you need to acknowledge the failure of your approach otherwise your intent and message will fall on deaf ears and not only hurt your goal and the community, but will further setback the community’s perception surrounding AI development processes and morality.
