Here's a followup lesson to Wednesday's Word Ladder - "Hot Dog" Have your student rehearse (rptd rdg) this poem by the great Shel S. & perform it for an audience (e.g. grandma, siblings, etc.). Then do some word study of words from the poem. Enjoy!

26 million people work from home at least part time and we think it’s being savvy. 3 million Teachers have to do it during a pandemic and people want their pay cut since they think they’re not working. Teachers sure do put up with a lot of crap just to educate our youth.

The CDC wants to reopen schools because "children are far less likely to suffer severe symptoms of COVID-19." So everything will be just fine as long as we can find children to do the teaching, drive the bus, handle administration, perform building maintenance, and be parents.

My district announced that we will be all online for the first semester. Students, teachers, school staff and employees won't needlessly die. One death can shatter a school community, and I am so thankful we can avoid that. All districts can, if they make the right decision.
