I think it all started with “fuck Ukraine, Russians are going to take it within days, we want to stay with the winner.” Sometimes being an unprincipled smart ass does not pay off.

1/ Where do U.S.-Russia-Ukraine negotiations go from here? Despite a flurry of summits and calls in mid-August, a breakthrough remains unlikely. The positions of Moscow, Kyiv, and Washington remain fundamentally incompatible. 🧵linkedin.com/posts/reaktion-…

Trump’s stance on Ukraine echoes Kremlin propaganda, mislabels Zelensky, and ignores Russia’s role as the aggressor. Appeasement isn’t peace––it’s an invitation to more war. Ukraine needs support, not sacrifice, as I argue in this piece for @NewEastEurope neweasterneurope.eu/2025/03/…

1/ Today’s Trump-Zelensky-Vance meeting in the Oval Office wasn’t about diplomacy. It was a staged power move designed to humiliate Zelensky, shift the Overton Window on Ukraine, and signal to Russia that Trump calls the shots. A thread: 🧵

Europe’s rejection of Russian gas was historic—but its impact may be short-lived. Rising costs and political pressures could push some countries toward renewed imports, with major consequences for Ukraine and energy security. My latest for @MoscowTimes: themoscowtimes.com/2025/02/0…

Zelensky really hammered Europe in his Davos speech, addressing its future and the threats facing it. "Right now, all eyes are on Washington. But who’s actually watching Europe at the moment?" Here are some highlights from his speech 🧵

A number of Russian channels say that Ukraine has began an offensive operation from near Sudzha towards Bolshoye Soldatskoye in Kursk oblast with armored vehicles. They say Ukrainian EW has been effective against their UAVs and that Ukrainian units cleared mines overnight. t.me/rusich_army/19867 t.me/razvedosaa/12220 t.me/RVvoenkor/83908 t.me/milinfolive/139193

A few words on the #TaurusLeak affair and how, paradoxically, this is not good for Moscow. A short thread 🧵

The last photo I took of myself before the invasion. I’m a completely different person - and not necessarily in a better way. War takes its toll. Beach: Feb 23, 2022. Other photo: Nov 6, 2024

I spent the past week and a half in the Donbas, where I embedded with the 28th Mechanized Brigade in the Bakhmut direction. The shell hunger is acute, with FPV drones the only thing keeping the line steady. But Ukraine's grim determination continues. thedispatch.com/article/hope… – at Ukraine

I might be a nobody compared to Musk, Carlson, Trump, etc., but there is one difference between us: I will never give up. I will never quit fighting for Ukraine, for democracy, for justice, and for what I believe in. Light will prevail over darkness, justice over money.

I stayed at the Park Hotel in November whilst in #Kharkiv. The staff was so nice. The waitress had two little children who just wanted to play; her little girl kept hiding and then running and waving at me. The only guests were journalists. We had a beer in the bar.
Aftermath of the Russian attack on Park Hotel in Kharkiv. Thirty people, including foreign journalists, were at the hotel. Deliberate targeting of hotels by Russia is a clear war crime. When will we see Russia accountable?

svyatobox--solidarnamol.repl… if anyone is looking to make a small donation for this holiday season, I highly recommend this charity, which brings presents to children in frontline regions of Ukraine and orphans. I can personally vouch for the team!

Frankly, I never in my life planned to see a war. I also never planned to dabble in journalism. Yet here we are, 21 months into a horrible war, and I’ve done both. Here is my first-ever frontline report, a truly terrifying experience.@NewEastEurope neweasterneurope.eu/2023/11/…
