Mike Vrabel on Patriots CB Charles Woods and why he now carries Jolly Ranchers in his pockets:
"I kind of like him. He got a little street rat in him. The story was, he was like, coach, ‘Can I get a Jolly Rancher?’ And I was like, Are you serious? I'm like, yes. At halftime, it was like I was coaching one of the kids teams, 9 year old football. 'Yeah, sure have a Jolly Rancher.'
"Then we won the game. And then I joked about it when he got a game ball, we called him Jolly Rancher or JR now for short. So then last week I said, ‘I'm ready to go. I got your grape Jolly Rancher.’ Put one in. And the next play he got an interception. I was like, 'This is crazy.'"
Fingers crossed for all the folks that report on this for live audio/video formats (iykyk)

For a year, @SandoNFL and I dove into what actually goes on in an NFL headset, and the vast networks that make every play possible - hidden in plain sight.
Then, the best visuals team in the world made it tangible.

Year 3 of me professing the Packers are the best "neutral fan" watch in football
Matt LaFleur has an absolute bag (even made the Malik Willis offense fun/exciting) and Jordan Love has whatever psycho confidence + arm talent combo that comes from eating the cheese curds in GB
1) Worked w/ Troy for 2 days during 2018 draft & he was SUPER prepared + 1st class on & off camera
2) He's a great analyst b/c he's fair but willing to be critical when warranted
3) IMO he's setting himself up to get got by a soyboy in a suit for being so vocally anti-analytics

Troy Aikman says he forgot Halloween candy and handed out autographed cards instead, then remembered the candy the next year and somehow disappointed the kids
Aikman: “One year for Halloween, I got home from practice. I was single, was at the house, totally forgot it was Halloween. And all of a sudden, I had kids coming to my door. I had no candy.”
“And I was like, ‘Oh man,’ I felt like an absolute loser. So these card companies would send me my football cards, and it’s all I could think of. So I pull out these cards and I just signed them for the kids as they came to the door, sign a card and hand it to them.”
Dale: “They’re kids and that’s normally who wants those.”
Aikman: “Yeah. And so then the next year I got smart and I was prepared and I had candy. And then I had more kids that came to my door than I had the year before, and I’m handing them out candy, and they’re like, ‘Oh man, we want the autographed football card.”
