Lately, the 10Y is *seemingly* being driven by AI CapEx expectations. SOXX is the proxy. 87% correlation over training 9-weeks. P-value = 0.003. The deepest and most liquid market in the World is *seemingly* confirming what the equities are screaming. CapEx will fall short of prior expectations. Correlation ≠ Causation
Oil and rates are not moving together anymore. Brent @ $116 U.S. 10Y @ 4.99%

I know you all don’t want to hear this but maybe $NVDA trades at a bank multiple because it effectively is a bank at this point.

Don’t overthink it. Hyperscaler and AI CapEx stocks are dumping because the assumption that there will be unlimited cheap debt to fund the AI buildout is proving false. Only two ways around it: 1) Cut the CapEx 2) Fund it with equity And both result in lower EPS. Welcome to your first commodity cycle, Muse bros.

counterpoint. $gs is wildly expensive despite having a fairly cheap multiple because it's enjoying cyclically high equities revenue?

it's kind of hysterical that the $WAL management reports 35bps of "CORE" charge-offs, which EXCLUDES $152 million of fraud related losses. and Elizabeth Holmes or SBF were great people adjusted for the outright fraud they committed too.

I’ll stay short as long as this card keeps getting pulled
If you’re short or anti the AI trade, your thesis is literally to bet against some of the smartest people ever who are running the largest and most profitable companies to ever exist. Yeah… I think I’ll stay long.

Buyback reduced to 3.1M shares in q3 vs 21.7M in q2. And then there was this at $306

I grew up in bonds. It boggles my mind how little even smart finance people (ostensibly the author not ZH) know about convexity. Buying MbS funds is literally one of the dumbest things. You have capped your rates down upside by selling calls to borrowers for a few bps yield

Oh dear. Sept PPI came in at 1.3% m/m, significantly above the est for 0.6% and the highest since March 2022, the first full month of the Russia-Ukraine war. And it wasn't just oil--without Energy's contribution, the m/m rate would have still been over 0.6%.

The question is… will hyperscalers fill the neocloud CapEx void? Current hyperscaler CapEx expectations are $1.1T for 2027, $400B of which is to be funded with debt. Debt investors are already balking at that prospect, evidenced by wider hyperscaler spreads despite no issuance since Aug 7. What do you think spreads will do when issuance resumes in earnest in 2027 and if the bogey climbs to $470B+? Debt investors understand hyperscaler leverage is way higher than what’s stated when you contemplate OBS commitments. Couple that with dubious ROIs on incremental capacity and spreads will go much wider with issuance. Maybe hyperscalers will borrow regardless, after all it’s a religion to these folks and they view the buildout as existential, but they would likely sacrifice their stock price in the process. The jig is up.
*taps sign* Btw CRWV, NBIS, and IREN face a combined $72B funding gap in 2027 (CapEx - Op CF). If capital markets are closed to them, ~$41B of NVDA purchases could be at risk, or ~11% of NVDA’s consensus DC revenue. We’re about to find out if NVDA is really capacity constrained, or if demand was reliant on a mix of cheap financing and customers padding their orders to secure the best possible allocations, like asset managers do. My guess is the latter and that we’re past peak CapEx. Therefore growth and inflation expectations will moderate, bringing down Treasury yields and AI capex stocks.

Core CPI printed at +0.33% in September, about a tenth of a point higher than most forecasters had anticipated. The 3-month annualized rate rose to 3.4% from 2% in August.
