Great basketball looks simple, but isn’t easy. Love this bucket from @andrewrohde10 Let’s break it down..

Here’s what we changed! Let me know what you think

Better vision = Better player

Why variability and randomness are valuable as a shooter and easy ways to implement them into a workout.

Points of emphasis to improve decision making: 1) .5 Basketball - drive, shoot, pass on the catch 2) Drive to score - Score the ball 1v1, if your draw 2 the play is not for you 3) Spacing Effort & talk on D needs to be better, but these guys are doing some great things on O

Being close to the rim isn’t a qualification for a good shot. Get close to the rim, under control and on balance You’ll finish at a much higher %

Want to score more points? Become a better cutter. Stay engaged off the ball and be aware of opportunities to cut.

As an offensive player creating contact is an absolute must. At the highest levels, the game in incredibly physical.

Our focus is much more on how to play the game than teaching individual moves. Here’s an example of a simple spacing and decision making 2v2 from our Youth Summer Skills Academy. @RealworkB

Drill to play & read defenders in open space. 🏀 Beat D to the spot = keep going 🏀 If D is going to beat you to the spot = change direction & use their momentum against them 🏀 Usually need 2nd dribble to avoid getting stuck in bad position off 1 foot

I saw so many players take bad shots trying to euro step I didn’t teach it for 3 years. Last year we started again, but we use it to score when open OR create a passing angle. This helps players make better decision in these situations. Here’s an example of a drill we use

My thoughts on current basketball culture and the role I play in a players development

I’ve been in the training business for nearly 15 years. What’s the biggest change in how we coach and teach over that period of time? Training players to be productive and effective in games, not to get them better at drills.

Keep. The. Dominos. Falling. Appreciate @Coach_Witte and the Mukwonago Girls for having me come in during the season for some Saturday Skills work.
