Clearly this possibility is in contention. Real peace requires strength.
Would we expect anything less?
Is it not obvious that a peace treaty with the current Russian government, without a substantial security presence in Ukraine on the part of its partners, would just be abused and used by Russia for further attacks?
The presence of a foreign defence force must be a redline that Ukraine, and its allies, set for any peace agreement. Russia cannot be trusted.
About a week ago I harvested my final harvest from my balcony garden, (lots of roast peppers as a result), chillies and my favourite tomato sort 'black crimea', a Ukrainian variety.

They still have barriers that are closed at certain times of the day.
They are no longer guarded by soldiers since 1998 after both sides came to an agreement and respected each other's histories.
The biggest problems with @hasanthehun are his immense dishonesty and hypocrisy.
His politics is more hollow than a ping-pong ball. He's not even a socialist or communist, he is just a charlatan that uses politics to gain attention and a following by saying whatever he thinks his audience wants to hear, including blatant lies.
If you are a communist or socialist, aren't you embarrassed to be associated with someone like this?
Then there is the hypocrisy. If you want to condemn the IDF for their treatment of the Palestinians you at least need to recognise the suffering Hamas has brought on the Palestinian people themselves. It's been documented for decades at this point.
Let alone the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israelis. Let alone Russia's book burning of Ukrainian books, the abduction of tens of thousands of Ukrainian children by Russia, or Russian suppression of ethnic minorities within their own borders.
Your outrage follows whatever is trending, rather than any consistent set of principles.

@hasanthehun If I invent my own class, can I be a communist too?
How about the Charlatan Class: those who pretend to support Democrats one day, then stab them in the back the next?

Hopefully Ukraine can finish the job (and hit the rest of the server farms). Alas I also think the bad influence from the bots rubbed off on some of the less intellectually gifted Brits.
This joyful comments greeted me when logging into X today 🙃
