Resources at Shelters:
- Even if you aren't staying at a shelter, you can visit one to shower, charge your devices, get food or access resources. You can find locations by visiting redcross.org/shelters, downloading the Red Cross Emergency app, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
- Everyone is welcome at our shelters, including pets.
- Services at our shelters are free and you only need to provide your name and where you lived before the disaster to enter.

How You Can Help:
- Donate: Financial donations enable us to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters. Help people affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene by visiting rdcrss.org/3BQrHqt or texting the word HURRICANES to 90999 to make a donation.
- Volunteer: Hurricane season isn't over and we need volunteers who are willing to travel this fall to respond to disasters: rdcrss.org/3YiyC4L
- Give blood: Blood drive cancellations across the Southeast caused thousands of blood donations to go uncollected. If you live in an unaffected area and are eligible to give, schedule an appointment to donate blood: rdcrss.org/3BDpLlo
Information About Financial Donations:
- We honor donor intent, and all donations earmarked for Hurricanes Milton and Helene will be used to support people affected by these disasters.
- Your donations help people in need, and we are committed to being responsible stewards of your generosity. An average of 90 cents of every dollar spent is invested in delivering care and comfort to those in need. Learn more: rdcrss.org/3EdqWXM
Donating Items:
- We cannot accept donations of clothing or household items. Cleaning, storing, sorting and distributing physical donations takes time and resources away from our priority of providing safe shelter, meals and more to people in need. Please call 211 if you live in an affected area to determine which organizations are accepting donated items and what items are critically needed.
Combating Misinformation:
- During large disasters, it's common for misinformation to be spread online. Before sharing something, please fact-check it with reputable sources. Sharing misinformation can impact our ability to deliver critical services to affected communities.

Severe storms have wreaked havoc across the country, leaving many with prolonged power outages, damaged homes and, in some cases, nowhere to go.
Our volunteers have been working tirelessly to assist those affected. Since our operations began, more than 1,400 trained disaster workers have been working — from Texas and Florida to Iowa and Michigan — to ensure communities have shelter, food and critical relief supplies. With more severe weather on the way, Red Crossers are committed to helping people in the coming days and weeks.
Alongside our partners, we've provided more than:
• 4,500 overnight stays in 48 emergency shelters.
• 135,000 meals and snacks.
• 75,000 relief items including comfort kits, clean-up supplies and more.
Now, more than ever, your support is needed. Please consider donating to help those affected by disasters like floods, fires and countless other crises. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to, and help people recover from disasters: rdcrss.org/4btOaqi
