Rubbish! Higher interest is more free income for the rentier and capitalist classes in exchange for nothing. I've never seen high interest rates deferring their investment decisions
Replying to @RedMMT
Higher interest rates means businesses have to pay more for their loans, which means they have to work even harder.

Libertarians believe monopolies cannot survive in a free market, provided you ignore predatory pricing, exclusive contracts, control of distribution, massive capital requirements, buying out competitors, and every other economic reality that ruins their stupid fucking fairy tale.

The outgoing ECB president has steered the central bank through the worst pandemic in a century, the bloodiest war in Europe since 1945, the biggest inflation shock in a generation and a US trade war. What will define her legacy? ft.trib.al/JA5156R

TARGET2 balances are NOT German loans. Even Germany's public bank KfW explicitly says so.
They reflect payments already settled, capital flows and ECB monetary policy. They even include payments for German cars bought by Italians — cars that have already been paid for.
They are intra-Eurosystem claims and liabilities, eliminated in the Eurosystem's consolidated balance sheet.
You're confusing accounting with economics. And propaganda with analysis. As usual.
There's a fantasy in Italy and Spain that Germany's TARGET2 claims aren't real. They're very real. They're subsidized loans from Germany that finance a standard of living in Italy and Spain that's artificially and unsustainably high. The AfD will end this.

If only fish and sharks could intertemporally optimize their populations under rational expectations, we wouldn't need ecologists and their silly dynamic models.
Unfortunately, neither species has figured out how to maximize discounted lifetime utility.
Robin cries; good for humanity
Recent early departures from the ECB - so Macron can pick the successors - is wrong and symptomatic of a European elite that shuffles jobs to itself regardless of the political winds. This further damages the legitimacy of the ECB, especially in Germany...
