Before Hollywood, I was living in a van in Hawaii and waiting tables at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. One day, the incredible Rae Dawn Chong walked into the restaurant, and naturally, I went up to her table and said, “Hey, you’re a movie star! What are you doing here?”
She asked if I could act, and I said, “Fuck yeah, put me in your movie!”
She asked for my phone number. The only problem was I didn’t have one. So I gave her my buddy Mike’s number instead. A couple days later, Mike casually mentions, “Oh, by the way, someone called you.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MIKE?!
I called her back, and sure enough, she was serious. I drove over to pick up the script, went back to Mike’s house, and read all 120 pages three times in a row. First script I’d ever read. My character's name was Devon, and I remember thinking, “Sweet! I could totally play a Devon!”
I showed up to the audition with every line and inflection mapped out in pencil. Rae told me I could act and offered me the part. I asked if we were shooting in Hawaii. Nope. Los Angeles.
I had about $60 to my name, a bag of clothes, and some rollerblades.
Then Rae told me they'd fly me out. And I remember thinking right then and there, my life just changed forever. I'm going to be an actor.
That little movie was Cursed Part 3, a low-budget horror comedy that opened the door to Hollywood for me.
I'll forever be grateful to Rae for taking a chance on a kid working at a shrimp restaurant. Everybody starts somewhere, and this is where it all began for me.
What an incredible back story to an incredible gift to @joeylogano.
In your kindness, I ask if you will pray for my lifelong friend Andy (on the right), who is in hospice in his last days. Known him since first grade and he has been a true friend, kind and friendly to all. This one is truly hard so please pray for his wife and daughter too.
Feast of St. John Paul II today - the first Pope I saw in person and the most significant of our lifetime. His story is incredibly inspiring… and his wisdom missed. Painting from Castel Gandolfo, summer residence of the popes. @Pontifex
Prayers for the Holy Father....
Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

There's only 2 known photos from 125 years ago today, when Henry Ford upset Alexander Winton in the race that changed auto history forever. No. 4 (Mr. Ford) passes for the lead on lap 6 of 10 and pulling away. Happy 125th anniversary @FordRacing!
Was there that day! @colinbraun was a stud at that speed... true debut of the Ford EcoBoost race engine that would eventually win Le Mans three years later. @FordRacing

Sad news. Great story-teller, but even better guy.
The 125th anniversary of @FordRacing is this Saturday, Oct. 10. A lot of people know parts of the story of Henry Ford's historic race that day, but this, to me, is the best telling of the story ... from @sweepstakes1901. This was done 15 years ago. Enjoy! LINK in thread⬇️

When Ford Racing’s legacy meets @redbullracing’s fearless drive, nothing stands in the way. Proud of the Red Bull Ford Powertrains journey, and this is just the beginning.

Congratulations to the @redbullracing and Red Bull/Ford Powertrains on the first victory with the new engine. It won't be the last. So much hard work has been put into that program. Nice to see the Blue Oval on the top step again with a great team.
A wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. Well done, @Yates_Doug.
My dad was my hero, my mentor, and the most influential person in my life. I was incredibly fortunate to spend most of my racing career working alongside him and learning from him. My journey started at an early age, from washing bolts and cleaning the shop, to becoming an engine builder and ultimately having the honor of leading his vision at Roush Yates Engines.
Robert believed in people, gave me opportunities, and helped shape the person and who I am today. I will always be grateful for his trust, his guidance, and the love he shared for our family. The Yates family will forever be grateful for my dad and the incredible legacy he left behind. We love you, we miss you, and we will carry your vision and memory with us every day.
Love this photo of how far racing technology has come in 125 years... winning race cars on both sides. Beautiful shot!
🎨 LIVERY EXPLAINED: @FordRacing was aiming to showcase a “shocking” visual to tell the story of its 125 years in motorsports according to Scott Bartlett, who devised the concept of creating a tribute livery to the brand’s first race-winner.
