My wife is playing FF for the first time this year, in a family league our nephew spun up.
I’d asked before, she never showed interest, but is competitive, and has gotten into it a little, frequently looking at stuff like site projections, asking a lot of questions. It’s been fun!
Also had some injury issues. Achane. Breece. Navigating that, trying to find pickups, now dealing with byes in a league with a shallow bench — it’s a lot for a newer player.
For me, it’s been a reminder what some of the stuff I take for granted feels like.
I just asked about waivers this week. “I… can’t. This is the least fun I’ve ever had.”

After a decorated 24-year run at ESPN, Nicole Noren resigned in protest.
She couldn’t go along with the network’s all-out embrace of gambling.
For the first time publicly, in @CJR, Noren shares the deeply personal reasons behind her decision.

A lot has changed in FAVOR of content creators since I was first over there. For a long time, self-promotion wasn't allowed, period. Now it is. But, at its heart, that subreddit is still a community. And the ONLY goal is to help each other get better at fantasy football. That's it.
If you are a part of that community and are genuinely there to help people win (and maybe have a little fun talking ball along the way), then you will have a good time. If all you are looking for is clicks, then it probably isn't going to be a good experience for you or for the community. It has never been about that - not back then and not now.
But I will say, if you do engage the community in good faith, which does mean sharing some of your thoughts and your takes for free without immediately getting something back in return, then you will gain some fans and make some friends over there. I guarantee it. I get that some folks aren't interested in that or don't have time but there are a lot of other websites/forums/apps etc. for those people to try to drum up some engagement. The only people that forum should be catering to are the people who are there every day trying to learn or trying to teach.

I remember when I first started posting on reddit & it just feels like it’s come so far for the fantasy football community. The responses, the engagement, all of it, is just way better than where it was 3-5 years ago, which is a testament to y’all.
A year ago, we had another moderator post on the "saved you a click" / TL;DR culture. It has some good insights on moderator thoughts, community perspective, etc. Link below.
This post, by another moderator, came after a bunch of conversations in comments (I think stemming from some @CoopAFiasco posts)
It'll give insight on the community approach, some moderator thoughts, and more.
Fantasy content has zero barrier to entry. We see total crap, slop, and garbage posted on a regular basis.
You aren't wrong that it sucks. There's no perfect answer.
