Rhianna Jones and Dr. Cordelia Manickam in Dr. Keith Reeves' lab (@ReevesLabNK) analyzed the #granulocyte compartment in mucosal and lymphoid tissues of #lentivirus-infected macaques. This gave them insight into immune modulation and viral replication.

Big news. HIV increases risk of COVID-19 death 2.75-fold, regardless of ART status or viral suppression. Both prior TB and current TB also increase risk of COVID-19 death (1.4 and 2.6 fold respectively). #COVID19SA

New from @ReevesLabNK, SIV/SHIV infection perturbs oral & intestinal mucosae of infant macaques -> depletes ILC3, increase NK cells, functional shift from homeostatic to a multifunctional proinflammatory state. jvi.asm.org/content/94/5/e01…

Cordelia Manickam in the @ReevesLabNK lab reported a new cell types in rhesus macaques -NK like B cells which have been reported in mice. Similar cell population also found in humans. They respond in an IgG fashion in SIV infection. #nhpaids

I really liked this study biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… by @MalmbergLab.
Was a well done bioinformatic analysis as well as a useful dataset for all NK researchers. And I'm itching to get my hands on it to interrogate in regards to my own questions and experiments.
