IFAB law 14.1 states a goalkeeper must not ‘behave in a way that that unfairly distracts the kicker, eg touch the goalposts or crossbar’ John McGinn missed his penalty for #AVFC against Fulham with Bernd Leno touching the bar while he was running up to take it. Former referee Dermot Gallagher confirmed on Ref Watch that it should’ve been re-taken and it was missed by VAR.

Fabio Carvalho came through the Fulham academy, breaking into the Fulham first team, and thrived. In 2024, he joined rivals Brentford from Liverpool.
