Seeing Titanic again reminds me just how much coming out was the right decision. Living my life free of that suffocating, shameful world of shallow platitudes & priviledge is still worth everyday of adventure I've had since then & have still yet to find.

Natalie Clifford Barney (b. 31 October 1876) was an American-born writer, poet, lesbian icon, and legendary Parisian salon hostess whose unconventional life challenged the sexual and social conventions of her era.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, into a wealthy family, Barney moved to Paris as a young woman, where her fortune allowed her to pursue literature, art, and romance without financial restraint. Openly lesbian at a time when homosexuality was widely condemned, she famously declared that her sexuality was not a vice but a means of avoiding one. Her numerous romantic conquests included poet Renée Vivien, courtesan Liane de Pougy, and painter Romaine Brooks, with whom she maintained an extraordinary, if frequently complicated, relationship lasting more than fifty years.
Beginning in 1909, Barney hosted a celebrated literary salon at her home at 20 rue Jacob on Paris's Left Bank. For six decades, her Friday gatherings attracted an astonishing array of cultural luminaries, including Gertrude Stein, Colette, Djuna Barnes, Ezra Pound, and T. S. Eliot. She championed women writers and established an informal alternative to the male-dominated Académie française.
Writing primarily in French, Barney published poetry, plays, memoirs, and collections of epigrams, although her greatest literary influence arguably came through the writers she inspired. She was immortalized as the character Valerie Seymour in Radclyffe Hall's The Well of Loneliness and as the formidable Dame Evangeline Musset in Djuna Barnes's Ladies Almanack.
Barney died in Paris on February 2, 1972, at age 95. Unapologetically lesbian, fiercely independent, intellectually adventurous, and romantically insatiable, she remains one of the most remarkable figures of 20th century lesbian history—a woman who made her own rules and spent nearly a century delighting in breaking everyone else's. 🏳️🌈

Trump’s deal has failed? American companies are in no rush to buy Russian diesel
Businesses are wary of the legal and reputational risks, The Washington Sun reports.
Trump’s aides are privately urging companies to accept the shipments.
Between October 16 and 22, three tankers — Talisman, Leruo and Agioi Fanendes — departed from the Russian port of Primorsk for the United States. They are carrying a total of 924,000 barrels of diesel.
However, the vessels’ routes are already changing. Analysts estimate that the fuel could ultimately end up in Brazil.
American politicians are also opposing the shipments. A bipartisan group of congressmen has warned banks, ports and distributors of potential legal liability for participating in deals involving Russian fuel.
A 2022 law prohibits its import, and to lift the restrictions, the president must notify Congress 90 days in advance and meet a number of conditions.
The expected drop in US diesel prices has also failed to materialize. Fuel is selling for around $6.30 per gallon — slightly more than when Trump and Putin reached their agreement.

“This spring, the U.S. military faced a similar dilemma in the Middle East. According to a Reuters report that cited Pentagon documents, U.S. forces used Starshield to pilot their drones for strikes against Iran. When SpaceX found out, it raised the price for Starshield service in that region from roughly $5,000 per terminal per month to $25,000. The Pentagon agreed to pay.
In Ukraine, Musk could be attempting a similar upsell.”
