Not really a minor sitcom character. Not really a cleric. Just a bundle of informed opinions.

1. Details matter. 2. Do the math. 3. Few people are lying, but nearly everyone is wrong.

Nobody ever talks about this, but the reason you have to go to college is A, because Griggs v. Duke Power Company made it illegal for presumptive employers to IQ test, and B, inner city High-Schools basically aren't allowed to fail a student as long as they physically show up. So you end up in this trap where a High-School diploma that you worked very hard for means nothing, because a kid who did coloring books and addition and subtraction got a paper saying he has the same qualification. Ok, then just give me an intelligence test, oh wait you cant, thats also illegal because it causes "disparate impact". So now the only proxy for basically literacy and ~105~ IQ is a 4 year meaningless degree that costs 10s of thousands of dollars. But wait, now they hand those out to anyone, (1/4 of 4yr grads have an IQ of or below 95), so now you need a Master's, or specialty training, or a million other bullshit things. So you get them, but wait, a diploma mill in Hyderabad cranked out 100M guys who also have a Master's on paper, and will work for 1/3 the price, so now you dont have a job. Ok, ill work construction, but wait, you dont live in a State with strong Unions, so any non-specialized construction work is done by slaves from Guatemala, so you decide to stay home and take Percocet instead. Awesome system we've built.

“It’s the economy, stupid.” Maybe, but by most metrics the economy is kicking ass. Which means “It’s the messaging, stupid.”

Google says that if schools want to use Google Search, they need to use its AI too. Here's a better solution: Don't use Google. Brave Search is a privacy-first search engine that doesn't force you to use AI.

Where do the authors of ballot questions receive their training to write so incoherently?

There is a term limit proposal for county offices on my ballot. I swear to you it deciphers to say a YES vote means limits will be imposed and a NO vote means limits will be imposed.

Writing this bad is never natural. Someone had to be trained to do this.

The habit of inviting the entire world to chime in on your every personal interaction to judge “who was right or wrong” is a destructive and nasty one that no civilized person should cultivate.

It has never been easier to turn asset values into liquidity. This is a solvable problem. She should pay her taxes.
A 94 year old woman forced to work because her social security income is $12,704 a year but her property tax is $19,000. Bextel says the 94 year old, who lives in Jackson, bought her house for $40,000 in 1960. It now sits on a double lot worth $4.5 million and is falling down around her. "At 94 years old, she's still working." Bextel says she took a job answering phones at an acupuncture clinic, and that scrapping property tax is the thing she most wants to do as governor.

The post's claim omits that the woman likely qualifies for Teton County's long-term homeowner exemption (50% off assessed value of primary residence for 65+ owners with 25+ years paying WY residential taxes) plus deferral options. tetoncountywy.gov/3034/Long-Term… wyo-prop-div.wyo.gov/tax-relief/

What is the point of winning if you never use the lawmaking power you win to enact better laws?

I recall the afternoon broadcast of Looney Tunes being pre-empted so that the Watergate hearings could be televised.
What is the oldest political news story you can remember? For me it's Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP.

Why am I seeing posts today about a polling operation that was entirely fake as some kind of research project as if it is a new revelation?

And awarding select favored subpopulations a lesser burden adds to the immorality.
Property taxes are fundamentally immoral.

My interactions with AI systems have been very limited. The experiences I have had have confirmed the reputation that they express in positive, supportive, affirming, agreeable tone.
I tried to use an LLM to sort through an idea I was working through and I had this same experience. Empty intellectual calories.

If such exchanges do happen, do they persist when the user pushes back?
