Yesterday around 5pm, we finally received a response to our request that Governor Spanberger call a special session to address the alarming findings in @VirginiaDEQ’s Groundwater Supply East of I-95 Report.
Disappointing but unsurprisingly, her answer was no - dismissing the need for a special session to address what she called “administration reports.”
To be clear, this is not just another administrative report. It is a dire warning about one of Virginia’s most essential resources, our drinking water. The Coastal Plain aquifer has virtually no capacity to support major new withdrawals.
Less than two weeks ago we had to fight off another Withdrawal Permit application. Putting this report on a shelf is further risking drinking water for my constituents and Virginia’s citizens.

After pushback from a state senator following the drastic eastern groundwater report from DEQ, Amazon is planning to pull their application for the re-issuance of a permit to let them use up to 6m gallons a year from the Potomac aquifer. #valeg #vagov

GREAT NEWS! After my letter to @VirginiaDEQ and the immense community response, Amazon is withdrawing its new groundwater permit application to use up to 6.4 million gallons annually from the Potomac aquifer. virginiamercury.com/2026/08/…
Today, I sent a letter calling for Virginia's Department of Environmental Quality to deny Amazon's new groundwater permit request to withdraw up to 6,400,000 gallons per year - 640,000 gallons per month - from the Potomac aquifer to serve a data center campus in King George County.
The same aquifer DEQ's own report just told us has virtually no capacity left for new withdrawals.
At the same time, the Department has directed King George County to reduce its reliance on this very aquifer and move its public water drinking supply to the Rappahannock River, a transition requiring robust infrastructure construction and upgrades likely to cost upwards of $100 million, to be borne by the families and ratepayers of a rural county.
Now DEQ wants to hand a fresh allocation from that same aquifer, in that same county, to one of the largest corporations on Earth for lawn irrigation and washing pavement.
That is indefensible. Read my full letter below. ⬇️
Today @RussetPerry and I sent letter below urging Governor Spanberger to call the General Assembly into a special session to address the deeply alarming findings contained in the recently released @VirginiaDEQ Groundwater Supply East of I-95 Report required by my 2024 SJR25.
Two Virginia courts have now blocked enforcement of the unconstitutional so-called 'assault' weapons ban.
You cannot ban firearms commonly owned by law-abiding Virginians and call it constitutional. Major victory for our 2nd Amendment rights in VA. wtvr.com/news/virginia-polit…
My comments before voting on Gov. Spanberger's budget amendment to gut our bipartisan groundwater protections for data centers.
They were simple and strong: air cooling, recycled water, or a closed-loop system. Her amendment rolls back these first-in-the-nation safeguards.

BREAKING - Virginia voters are shocked to find out that Virginia Democrats are voting to exempt themselves from the new gun control measures they are imposing.
“The provision of this section shall not apply to any member of the General Assembly.”
We warned you and warned you.

“We are a citizen legislature… we are no better than anybody else. And we should never vote for a bill that gives us a special privilege.”
Sen. Richard Stuart blasts Democrats for inserting a “rules for me but not for thee” carve out in their insane gun storage bill.
Democrats are openly admitting that their bill inhibits the ability of responsible gun-owners to protect themselves, which is why Democrats created a special carve-out that applies just to members of the general assembly.
Appalling and outright disturbing behavior. Such rhetoric is unconscionable and wholly unacceptable from anyone, much less a person nominated to be our top law enforcement officer.

This was taken yesterday outside the Arlington County School Board meeting. Winsome Earle-Sears was speaking against allowing men in women’s lockers. The hypocrisy of the Democratic Party and this sort of disturbing racism cannot be tolerated. Winsome is bigger than this.
