Now that's a buffer strip to protect the beck & rehabilitate the riparian zone! Topping up with π in the channel to #slowtheflow, thanks to @LothersdaleWG #volunteers Evidence of wetter banks & reconnection with albeit small floodplain. @Riverflies heaven! Stonefly on the wing
It's a wrap! 2 tiny becks now fenced & planted up with 24 native species, gaps & glades, wet & dry.
5 sessions, 130 unique #volunteers incl @Lothersdale, 1800 trees and today the first sights & sounds of #Spring

Here are samples of motorway runoff & the visual impact it is having on the river. These samples will be analysed so I'm not just going off the visual impact. This untreated runoff shouldn't be allowed to discharge to rivers without treatment. @IvelRev @SirGeogy @07DeMorgan

Processing of the #BigWindermereSurvey samples in the @LancsUniLEC labs this evening - we see evidence of the #cyanobacteria that @freshwaterbio describe, but we also see how patchy the accumulations are - many samples show no visible evidence, whilst others certainly quite green
Fantastic turn out for our 6th #BigWindermereSurvey! Some of our #CitizenScientists are reporting some small slicks of #cyanobacteria scums along the shoreline of #Windermere. We've found a small bloom of #Woronichinia under our #microscopes. Thanks to all who contributed!
