Absolute scenes on the patch near Amsterdam yesterday together with @Tohar_Tal . Counted no less than 12 species of raptors including Merlin, Black Kite, Red Kite and Osprey. Other nice additions to the #DPWC2024 were Ring Ouzel and Rook. Currently at 116 species.

First double points of the year, together with @Tohar_Tal . The third record of Cattle Egret on the patch. It was probably searching for a suitable spot to stay the night. Unfortunately it wasn’t a new species for me as I’d already seen the long-staying one in January. #DPWC2024

Good days on the patch with a few new species such as White-tailed Eagle (no less than 3 individuals), Red Kite and Common Cranes (both regional rarities). January’s Bullfinch turned out to be still present today. #DPWC2024 #Ouderkerkerplas #landjevangeijsel

Short after the med gull another exciting gull appeared: A 3cy YL gull. Only the 9th ever recorded on the patch and the first documented one! #patchgold #DPWC2024

Came across this Eurasian Bittern in the last light of today. Although there’s plenty of water and reed on the patch there only have been 9 previous sightings according to @waarneming with the last dating from 2011. #patchgold #dpwc2024

Another productive afternoon at the local patch. Walking along the roadside of a random patch of reed produced a Jack Snipe and scanning the Herring’s that spend the night at the lake resulted in 2 2cy Caspian Gulls. Currently at 66 sp. #dpwc2024

A birding session on Schiermonnikoog, with finally some calm weather, resulted in this very welcome Pallid Swift! With the wind coming from the South for the rest of the weekend, can we expect to see more birds?
