For me, today was the first day with more than one YBW, with a total of four birds. Two of them were very cooperative: these birds can really transform a dull day into one with colour! – at Texel, The Netherlands

Great morning on the patch yesterday, with this Mealy Redpoll and a White-tailed Eagle (@Recordshotmyars); only my second self-found ever on Texel. With the arrival of a female Marsh Harrier, the total now stands on 101 species for the year! @PatchBirding #dpwc2024

Today was my first opportunity to bird on my patch (Koornwaard and Kanaalpark, Den Bosch, Netherlands) for the #dpwc2024. The main target was the young Penduline Tit found last year. Other highlights include a couple of Cetti's warblers, Firecrest, Bullfinch and Goshawk.
Yesterday's highlight was a hybrid Barnacle Goose x Tundra Bean Goose, with only 7 documented sightings in the Netherlands! In Westerwolde, eastern Groningen, where Bean Geese numbers never disappoint. With @WeverRik and @KoenStork. Watch the typical bill pattern of Tundra Bean.
A birding session on Schiermonnikoog, with finally some calm weather, resulted in this very welcome Pallid Swift! With the wind coming from the South for the rest of the weekend, can we expect to see more birds?
After spending last weekend on Schiermonnikoog without seeing a YBW, this beauty was a very welcome one during a brief Monday-afternoon walk in the city of Groningen!

Spring is slowly but surely getting on at Texel with territorial juv Goshawks, displaying Siskin and the first Pied Wagtail. Also a Rook (right, classic scarce early spring migrant here) and a hybrid Hooded x Carrion Crow (left) together.
