As a Rohingya who grew up 🇲🇾I join 🇲🇾 in mourning of Tun Mahathir’s wife .
She stood beside him through decades of service to Malaysia, while building her own legacy of compassion and service.
May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus and give her family strength.
Al-Fatihah. 🤲🏼

Rohingya do not want to remain refugees forever. We want to return home but to a home where we are safe, recognized as citizens, and treated with dignity.
Repatriation without restoring our rights is not a solution. It only risks repeating the cycle of persecution.

"In Malaysia, Rohingya voices at the 1st Genocide Remembrance Day called for safety in Arakan, end to genocide, dignity in Malaysia & a future beyond refugee life. ✊🏽

RWDN was proud to be the only refugee-led org at #SEAWLC2025 🇲🇾 at Malaysian Parliament.
Syedah Bi, our leader, stood as the sole refugee participant, warmly received by Nurul Izzah — sparking dialogue on identity, resilience & Rohingya voices.

In Bangladesh,I met a Rohingya mother separated from her son during the 2017 genocide. Now alone in a refugee camp, she hugged me and whispered,“Tell my son your mother touched here.”She had nothing to send but her love.
And it crossed oceans.

On this eve of seventh #Rohingya #Genocide Remembrance Day in #Texas, we did a full-day workshop consisting Rohingya youths from school, college and university on August 23 followed by an open Genocide Remembrance event on August 24 with the members of the community from #Houston and #Dallas. These workshops include brainstorming of ideas and implemention of these ideas, different from previous two years. These efforts will continue.
We have identified a few key areas in which the Rohingya Youths across the North America can contribute towards the nation rebuilding process through governments, local groups, universities and colleges social works and advocacy and so on. We believe that this could the beginning of the something big.
This will not stop here.
We extend our deepest gratitude towards brother @nslwin and brother Sahat Zia Hero for joining us and contributing their extremely valuable and helpful information and ideas. These helped a lot.

The Rohingya who were detained by the BGB were pushed back last night around 1 a.m. This has left them even more vulnerable, as they are now stranded between the borders of Bangladesh and Myanmar once again, with no end in sight. #Rohingya #SaveRohingya #StopGenocide #Bangladesh

“It is clear that the safe space for civilians in #Myanmar is shrinking more each day, with people caught up in ongoing fighting and forced to make perilous journeys to #Bangladesh to seek safety.”

AA killed at least 200 Rohingya in a single day.
On August 5, 2024, the Rohingya from the downtown area of Maungdaw Township in Rakhine State went to the Naf River bank in search of a way to flee to Bangladesh.
However, they were targeted by the Arakan Army (AA), which sent drone bombs and fired artillery.
On that single day alone, at least 200 Rohingya civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, were brutally killed, and many others were injured.
Ms. Sharifah Shakirah, executive director of Rohingya Women Development Network (RWDN), attended the event of "Interfaith Prayer Service for Global Peace and to Honor the Victims of Violence held at the US Capitol Congressional building in Washington DC today. During the event, she briefed about the current #Rohingya situation in #Arakan and urged the US Government to translate its #Genocide recognition into actions in order to end the ongoing Genocide.
She sought further solidarity from other persecuted minorities across the world including the Sikh community suffering from Genocidal persecution beginning from the golden temple violence in India 40 years ago. She also discussed about creating awareness about the "Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day" that the #RWDN holds in #Texas annually.

Ms. @sharifahRWDN, founder and executive director of #RWDN, briefed the consortium of the #US Govt funded refugee resettlement service providers (#YMCA, IM, CC, Alliance, WCS, BEI and other community service providers) in #Texas about the efforts needed to support newly resettled refugees in the state to fulfill their needs, find work and further education in order to be able to contribute to the country's economy and integrate in the local societies.
She also talked about the importance of providing similar opportunities of resettlement to more unfortunate refugees (esp from #Burma and surrounding countries) — and discussed the steps required to do it through already existing programs of the US Gov’t and newly implemented 'WelcomeCorp' program — who could positively contribute to the country's economy and overall welfares.
