For anyone curious about what it actually looked like to kill a generation of functioning cars, here’s an actual video from 2009 and brief explanation:
The dealer first replaces the oil with sodium silicate solution. It’s a clear-ish liquid that crystallizes under extreme heat. As the engine warms up the solution begins to form small abrasive crystals in the oil system that shred the bearing and score the cylinder walls.
Within seconds of starting the car you can see smoke billowing from the exhaust, this is the crystals scratching the cylinder walls and leaving small grooves for oil and solution to leak past into the combustion chamber and ignite/evaporate, producing the white smoke.
Pretty soon the entire crankcase is full of crystals and freshly shredded metal flakes, the engine seizes. It took about 40 seconds in this video. Some engines reportedly lasted up to 7 minutes, but all were destroyed. That strikes me as sort of sad in a way, like watching a great warrior slowly lose a heroic last stand.
Now, this is the part that gets insanely wasteful. These cars were sent to federally approved recycling facilities where they had 180 days to sell the non-engine parts before they were required to prove that they had shred the entire thing into scrap steel.
But, in talking to a guy who ran one such facility at the time, he typically just sent them straight to the crusher. The timeframes allotted weren’t long enough to dismantle all of the cars, and even if you could, the marginal prices of the parts was greatly diminished. You cannot sell 1000 transmissions when only 50 went bad that year, they became worthless.
So just like that, in order to increase prosperity and save the environment, 677,000 entire running cars and trucks were turned directly into rebar worth a few cents per pound.
The entire Obama administration was like a chapter out of atlas shrugged.
Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesn’t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation.
15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. It’s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.

Wajahat Ali’s parents are Mirza and Sameena Ali of Fremont, CA. They were convicted in 2006 on 30 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering for using front companies to obtain over $29M in discounted Microsoft academic software under false pretenses, then reselling it for >$5M profit. Each was sentenced in 2007 to 60 months in prison, $5.1M forfeiture, and $20M restitution.

Lifelong moderate liberal here.
With Democrats nominating radicals like Abdul El-Sayed, and Democratic Party leaders cheering him on, I think this is the year where it makes sense for all common-sense, moderate, reasonable Democrats like myself to vote straight ticket GOP

Say what you want, but Karen Bass has had Traci Park’s back from Day 1: housed hundreds of homeless people in and around Venice, stopped Mike Bonin’s Monster in the Median that would have destroyed the Venice Canals, & fought to increase LAPD’s budget.
Pragmatism over Ideology.
Working together with Councilwoman Traci Park, we’ve helped move hundreds of people off the streets and into housing. Thank you Traci, for your partnership and commitment to getting things done! As we look ahead to the 2028 Olympics, there’s more work to do together to get our city ready. Let’s keep the progress going, vote on or before November 3rd!

Here’s Flavio Bolsonaro’s brother, Eduardo, reminding the world of what Lula promised to do during their debate: He would investigate Bolsonaro in order to throw him in prison.
Eduardo wanted Flavio to flee Brazil if he “lost,” but his passport has now been seized.
Reminder that Lula had Flavio’s father, Jair, imprisoned.
The scariest part? This sounds exactly like the American left if they regain power. They’re openly bragging about their incoming lawfare campaign against the Trump admin and its officials.
It’s time for the State Department and Sec. Rubio to intervene. This cannot be normalized anywhere in the Western Hemisphere.
Lula’s Supreme Court poolboy, Alexandre de Moraes, just seized Flavio Bolsonaro’s passport because of what his brother Eduardo said… on my show last Friday.
He suggested Flavio should leave the country if Lula won because he may be… wait for it… politically persecuted!
We all know it’s just the first step toward attempting to jail him like they did his father.
Expect silence from the “pro-democracy” left.
You can vote socialists into power, but you can’t vote them out.

Reporting Raman’s allegations as gospel without reaching out to us for comment? Here is the full picture, including the signs with our disclosures. We are not hiding anything. This is protected political satire. Raman just does not like the message. Maybe scrutinize her record as closely as our jokes.

I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016, but I thank God every day he won because of the Supreme Court justices. If Hillary would’ve been our president, we would’ve had three more liberal activist judges, and there’s no telling where our country would be right now. That taught me a lesson and so now I vote Republicans.

Ultimately this is a losing battle for California. Federal law REQUIRES states to keep the rolls clean AND provide the Attorney General of the United States voter rolls upon request. Time is not on California's side
BREAKING: The 9th Circuit rules 2-1 to dismiss DOJ's effort to force California to remove 20,000 purported noncitizens from the voter rolls based on data CA officials view as faulty.
Majority:
Bennett (Trump)
Sanchez (Biden)
Minority:

WOW
Stunning admission by California during yesterday’s Ninth Circuit hearing.
California admitted they do nothing to check the citizenship status of voters and will count the illegal ballots of noncitizens who vote. This is why we’re seeking an emergency order. We cannot allow California to dilute legal votes in the upcoming election.
Judge: You agree that if a non-citizen votes and we don’t stop it now, that vote will be counted, correct?
California: That’s absolutely correct.

Dick Caruso makes it official .. he’s voting for Bass
He had the opportunity to support Pratt in the primary but didn’t..it didn’t matter to me but I believe it would’ve made a difference for other voters
The most ridiculous part is him saying it’s not “ideology” why he’s not supporting Raman but “competence”
He’s obvious worried the feral DSA leftists will come after him and his properties
After careful consideration, and for the future of the City of Los Angeles, I will be voting for @MayorOfLA.

🚨 #FOXEXCLUSIVE: 60 Minutes featured a deported Malian national whose wife and two children spoke about how much they miss him and want him home.
But we exclusively obtained Moussa Diawara’s asylum application, where he said he was seeking asylum in the U.S. because he was gay and feared being killed if sent back.
Now, DHS is pointing to his case as an example of alleged immigration fraud.
In his own words, Diawara wrote:
“Although I was born as a boy, but things appeared differently for me as I was already having female behaviors and feelings.”
“I was more comfortable being intimate with boys rather than with girls.”
And describing his life after arriving in the United States:
“Since I came to the USA I had the possibilities to express my feelings to men without any embarrassment no reserve.”
Read the asylum application for yourself:
“It feels really empty without him,” says 16-year-old Corey Diawara, whose father was deported in July.
His father had lived in the U.S. for 25 years and had no criminal record. Moussa Diawara says he was deported without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge. He was eventually sent to Mali, a country a U.S. immigration judge ruled he could not be deported to.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security told 60 Minutes that Ghana had provided the U.S. with “diplomatic assurances for his safety.” DHS also questioned the credibility of Diawara’s arguments for fearing persecution in Mali. cbsn.ws/4etdVdW

One reason that more illegals on visa overstays have been getting picked up at airports lately is that until just last year, ICE and TSA did not have a formal data-sharing agreement
This means illegals could walk up to TSA and they'd be allowed to board planes!

I've uncovered why LADWP water rates are skyrocketing.
LADWP's supplier said water conservation was too successful, leading water use/revenue to collapse— justifying a 40% rate hike.
They asked us to save water, so we did. But we saved too much, so they're spiking our rates.
An independent, non-city-affiliated audit of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power rates has been ordered by Mayor Karen Bass, her office says. ktla.com/news/local-news/ind…
