It’s disappointing seeing somebody with such a big fan base of people be so incredibly irresponsible.
On a communications level, it’s highly misleading, and with an influence this big, it can (and already has!) interfere with legitimate, hype-less forecasts, especially in true life threatening scenarios. #wx

Mikey has just concluded his final Brazil storm chase.
Wanted to take a moment to say how proud I am of the guy. At 19 years old, he went to a different continent where he doesn't speak the local language to promote severe weather awareness and safety.
He spoke at numerous schools to thousands of children, sparking a new generation of interest in meteorology in Brazil.
His broadcasts and coverage has reached millions of South Americans. His footage has helped show the power of these storms, prompting locals to take action when severe weather is coming their way.
His work with other chasers and meteorologists helped promote attention to both the science itself and the reason why chasing for the right reasons is key.
He is an inspiration, plain and simple.
