The peak of Sir Gino’s career appears to have been taken by various injuries and it got me thinking of others who’d suffered similar or more tragic fates with stardom in their grasp in the National Hunt sphere. A thread. #WhatCouldHaveBeen

To confirm, Constitution Hill was denied a chance to regain the Champion Hurdle…to finish 5th in a Group 2 in Italy in late October. Has to be the worst campaigning of a thoroughbred in history.

Daryz, dual Arc champion the only winner on the card to run a faster than standard time…what a superstar!

Chris Hayes & Cieron Fallon within 20 mins of each other categorically proving how poor European jockeys ride in America. Two absolute horlicks rides down the inner. When will they learn you cannot go to the rail off the pace on these tight tracks!

Raaheeb disappointing again. Surely one to switch to William Haggas for his 4yo campaign. The man handled Baaeed and Burrows just can’t seem to get or keep Raaheeb right. Long gaps between his races and never seems to be in good form.

To think we didn’t watch Constitution Hill regain the Champion Hurdle for two all weather novices…and that! Jesus wept.

The Arc looking more and more like a penalty kick for Daryz if he’s over his Ascot ailments.

People crabbing Diamond Necklace forget what a terrific race mare Aventure is on her day. 2xGr1 🏆 3xGr2 🏆 2xGr3 🏆 5xGr1 Placed Classic Placed Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe 🥈

Senorita Bonita, Victorious, Libertango & Sun Goddess…wow! Any of the four would be a Champion Two Year Old Filly in most years!

Goodness me, serious animal alert! Must think though how good is Victorious who dismissed her at Ascot 🤯. Great crop of 2yo fillies this year, not sure about the boys though!

Career performance by @CSoumillon to ride both the winner and the 6th placed horse in the same race @DeauvilleFr! @RacingPost

Notable Speech 6x Group 1 winner. Very classy horse on his day just far too inconsistent to be the champion his talent deserved.

Dylan Brown McMonagle casually winning the first 4 races at The Curragh today…including a 14/1 shot and an 11/4 chance against an odds on fav! Some boy.

Ka Ying Who? Is Bacio the world’s premier sprinter now? I jest but god I’d love to see a match race over 5 1/2 furlongs on Good To Firm at Ascot. @paddypower go on put up £3,000,000 to make it happen. £1m participation fee each + £1m to the winner. Ascot Trials Day.

Is this the best crop of 2yos that Sea The Stars has had? Some lovely prospects in Alpha, Wall Street, Flight Tracker, Quest For Stars, Sea Venture & Celestia all lovely stakes quality animals. Suspect plenty more to come as Sea The Stars is not an early 2yo sire by any means.

Have to question the impartiality of @itvracing when the entire panel goes that far to defend Buick. 15l off them at the 2f. Very poor ride but that’s racing, what isn’t ok is the panel desperately defending it. They need a Roy Keane figure willing to call things as they are.

R L Moore hopeless on True Love stepping back in trip as he was on Abraham Lincoln yesterday.

Rebel’s Romance has just won his 22nd race. What is the record for most wins by a European Racehorse on the flat?
