We're all surrounded by clutter, and it's not particularly our fault, it's a historical phenomenon, downstream of the Industrial Revolution and the Consumer Value System. Nevertheless it is our problem.
crises of imitation are created by misunderstanding context
language is a field of monuments (names, landmarks, ceremonies, holidays, idioms, etc) that commemorate moments when the crisis of imitation was resolved by someone reversing and converting the cataclysmic mimetic trajectory of everyone wanting the same thing into everyone saying the same thing which was done , first of all, by treating it as something said rather than an appropriation of something
I love the idea of "setpoints" to describe the behavior of complex systems. The "bodyfat setpoint" theory of obesity was probably the first time I heard it. But the class is broad. What are some other social instances?
You can mentally reset your trashcan setpoint.

avoid complex webs of secrets in general ...
Here’s the hard-won survival advice:
- keep bathing regularly
- use a mirror before leaving the house
- dress simpler than you think
- use short words and bulletpoints when communicating with normal
people, and get someone else to read over important stuff
- do your loving in the present not the sentimental past
- abstain from plotting revenge
- if you cannot forgive, forget
- you may have noticed something hidden but its probably not all about you
- that person was already annoyed before you got there
- avoid making complex webs of secrets
- try starting sentences with close people with “the thing i really am avoiding to tell you, is….”
I'm embarrassed to call myself a half-assed organization guru because I am not actually good at this. Throwing things away is hard. Today I'm trying to envision the end goal which is to have SPACE.
Clear space is a valuable thing.
Tools reshape our character. What does using tools we don't understand do to us? Does it teach us to trust, or teach us to flail?
