Say what? Even today I've seen two marketing tools so similar to ech other, that they even use the same font, let alone the same layout and exactly the same function.
Why is nobody building tools that help with marketing? that's exactly what most people need in 2026.

Perhaps just quit checking it every day? 🙂
Should I just quit?

Is LinkedIn broken? I used to get a fairly good reach with my posts there, but for two days now I get 0 (literally: zero) views for hours after posting. Not that I care about @LinkedIn too much, but it would be good to know what's going on 😉

Since it's Friday, I'm trying to avoid posting about Watchgoose, work and what not. You may have seen that recently I have received my long awaited C64CU from @commodoreofcl. Since then I've had a chance to spend a weekend and few evenings with it and here's my little review, below.👇

The good: - it works and it's awesome, brings back the joys of childhood - HDMI supported, modern power supply supports USB mouse - the case is much higher quality than I feared from first pictures - there are real SID slots available Not so good: - the LED version is fun, but the keys are completely unusable in the flashing mode - clear case shows all internal mould attachment points, all support structures, everything. When the LED mode is off it doesn't really look nice, but this one is on me, I should've though about it - supplied "casette tape" USB stick is 128MB "large", come on... The bad: - only two USB-A ports exposed to the users, even when there are USB-C slots on the motherboard, I had to hunt down USB-A to USB-C cable to be able to transfer files to it, it's 2026 already - there is SD card slot on the motherboard, but it isn't exposed at all, you need to take the whole thing apart to insert the card there, it could've been placed somewhere on the side of the chassis Overall, it's a great thing and gives me and my little one a lot of joy, watching demos and playing Bombermania and Ultima V :)

I do care if CEO is a bully. Shame on him and shame on you for caring more about company than about people. His company is his own to run it into the ground, but his employees aren't.
Look, I don't care if CEO bullies his employees. His company his rules. But not caring about security when your entire product is about SECURITY and PRIVACY is straight up insane. Literally what's going on?

I love Cloudflare products, but they have a reputation about them as a company that makes me not say words like "budget is not a problem" in public 😉
I urgently need someone at @cloudflare to get us on the enterprise plan in the next few hours, we need higher limits, budget is not a problem, time is! thanks

That's not a very good way to build a business relationship, is it? Oh, and who could be described as "a GPU provider", there isn't too many companies on the planet fitting the description? Asking for a friend.
After this tweet, a GPU provider we already wired $3M to called and asked for $5M more upfront. Said it’s now riskier. He tried to renegotiate a signed contract. Then banks we were in talks with cut their lending offers in half, saying their IC got scared. One reply moved capital markets against everyone building in this space except the people big enough to be immune to it. teapawt.net/elonmusk/status/211443…

My feed today is full of people panicking over the drop of $GOOG.TO or $INTC or something else. Okay, I get that the markets are looking red like on this picture, but first, I've seen it much worse, and second, that's normal. Stocks can go up, stocks can go down, and then they can keep going down or go up. Rinse and repeat. We've been on a bull-ish market for a very, very long time and people behave as if going up was promised to them. Wants me to comment under every such post: "My sweet summer child, first day on stocks market?" 😉 NOT a financial advice.

Another one bites the dust 😉 We did it everyone, the week is almost over, weekend is upon us, I hope to spend some time with my loved ones, hope to recharge and rest and hope you'll get a chance to that too! On Fridays I'm trying to break away from posting about Watchgoose, building and what not, so you may expect some relaxed content today. And of course, don't forget your coffee and eat your veggies! 😅

Huh, I just maxed out my Claude session. This hasn't happened to me in a very, very long time. Second time today. What gives @AnthropicAI ?

One thing I didn't realise before: doesn't it create a conflict of interests for Google to have so large stake in Anthropic? Not in the legal sense, but if they want win over them in AI, then it's a bad investment, and if they want Anthropic to win, then their own AI spend is an bad investment. Isn't that bizzare?
I don’t understand why people are worried and trimming $GOOGL. They own 14% of Anthropic, 7% of $SPCX, and 100% of Waymo & YouTube. Selling before $ANT IPO? Why?

He does not look like a force of nature. He does not look like he'll get far if he keeps "competing" like that. This isn't how a healthy and happy human being looks like, no matter how much they earn.
See a lot of people say the guy looks dead inside and they feel sorry for him. I don’t think these people understand what true ambition is when it burns you from the inside. Nik is a force of nature that lives to compete and conquer. He’s living his best life dominating the industry and pushing himself to the limits not because he is forced to by something external but simply because he can’t stop himself anymore. Also, I’ve never seen him look like he has slept more than four hours. Ok enough glazing

I knew it! I've said it few weeks ago in discussion with @levelsio when everyone got mad at him for saying AI will take most of the jobs at some point. I've described what I read at the time, about lawyers complaining they suddenly get flooded with AI generated work (papers, correspondence and so on) and it was just a matter of time when AI will step into this field too. And here we are. What field will be next?

But isn't entire AI depending on Google for search? Until they start crawling and indexing themselves, they have to rely on Google for any queries that users shove into AI chat boxes, right?
As someone who has personally spent $500k / mo+ on Google Ads for years, I can tell you with certainty: This revenue growth in Search is artificial & extremely unhealthy for Google’s business long term Search volumes are declining as legacy search is being increasingly cannibalized by non-monetized LLM queries Google’s response? Manufacture revenue growth via short-sighted, highly extractive, customer-hostile tactics. I.e. charge advertisers more for lower quality clicks, including clicks they do not want and explicitly did not approve Google to charge them for A few examples to illustrate: For all of its history until recently, Google operated on a 2nd price auction model I.e. if you bid $5 CPC and the next highest bidder bids $1 CPC, Google charged you $1.01 for the click (one penny more than the 2nd highest bidder) rather than the $5 you bid This was a genius move by Google early on as it incentivizes advertisers to input their true maximum willingness to pay rather than trying to play the game of bidding low and constantly adjusting to try to stay just ahead of the next highest bidder while still not paying too much However recently, Google silently deprecated the 2nd price auction and began charging advertisers as much as their bid and budget caps allow, regardless of what anyone else is bidding It’s a short-sighted cash grab at the expense of the long term health of the advertiser ecosystem Making thing worse, Google also recently nerfed keyword targeting precision Google previously had precise keyword targeting settings that allowed advertisers pick individual search phrases to bid on, defined down to the character w/ exact match or phrase match targeting This was one of the core features that made search advertising magic, enabling advertisers to run extremely precise campaigns based on exactly what their target customer typed But now, even if you bid on a specific term or phrase using the strictest exact -match targeting settings, Google will show your ad across 1000’s of unrelated keywords, labeling them as as “exact match (close variant)” The definition of “close variant” means whatever they want it to and changes constantly. The result is advertisers get billed for clicks that are totally irrelevant to their business and that their targeting settings explicitly forbid Google from targeting. Google does it anyway and there’s no ability to turn this off So now exact match is broad match, and broad match is just meaningless spam This is all very bad for advertisers, but for Google, it allows them to show your ad and bill you for clicks across 1000x more searches that were previously going unmonetized (mainly because they’re garbage queries no one wants) This is how you grow revenue atop declining search volumes Lastly, and perhaps most egregiously, Google quietly stopped respecting budget caps by a factor of 2x. For example campaigns we’ve been running for years with $1000 daily budget caps suddenly began spending $2000+ per day And the extra spend is entirely on the garbage keywords Google arbitrarily throws in as “exact match (close variants)” which have no value to our business, but can’t be turned off Google offers no refunds nor any recourse for overspend or spend on keywords you explicitly did not target These are not the actions of a healthy business. These are the actions of company whose core business is in decline but desperately needs to pump quarterly earnings so Wall Street will continue to fund insane capex while hopefully looking through their rapidly deteriorating negative free cash flow Google operated a benevolent monopoly for the better part of 25 yrs Meaning the value Google captured from Search was but a small fraction of the value it created, and that spread produced a potential energy that justified expectations of high earnings growth far, far into the future This is now no longer the case At the alter of AI capex, Google is sacrificing the golden goose

There's one thing i really hate about the new MacBook Touch: I don't care for it, I know it's not a product for me and I don't need to buy it. But I fear they will not bring OLED screens and lower weight to the non touch models (to keep them distinct enough) and it really sucks.
