I'm shocked that The Economist was willing to publish this!
the plan for venezuela that i suspected seems to be coming to fruition. the operation was ridiculed for not yielding immediate fruit, but some things take time. most people are too high time preference to even consider it
Optics, Optics, Optics
@RyanMcbeth, in his video about arming the people of Iran to combat the IRGC, makes a tangential point about Venezuela that I've hit on before.
Sacking Maduro for a cooperative Rodríguez wasn't a failure, it was the plan!
Some claim matters in Venezuela have not improved, but unlike the speedy Operation Absolute Resolve to extract Maduro, the plan for the future of Venezuela must be slow and thorough.
With Maduro out of the picture, why didn't the US install the beloved Machado the very next day? The answer is obvious to anyone not instinctively attacking the administration: Legitimacy!
As Ryan points out, any obvious US interference in Iran will forever be used as a propaganda tool to claim/overstate CIA involvement. Hell, we still haven't been able to clean up the Tudeh Party propaganda that vastly overstates the CIA's involvement in Iran in 1953, as it is still the dominant narrative, even in the mainstream.
I suspect the US approach in Venezuela is intentionally minimally invasive. A light touch minimizes the chaos and increases the stability of their society. Utopia overnight, or ever, should not be a reasonable expectation. With Rodriguez in charge and cooperating with the US, we can guide the country to their next election, do what we can to ensure it is fair, and the people can choose their next leader. Legitimacy!
Any disaster or mild inconvenience that may (and inevitably will) arise in the future cannot be so straightforwardly blamed on the US since the Venezuelan people chose their next leader. Without the facade of democracy, the next leader would be smeared with allegations of being an installed US puppet more than they are going to be already.
Given Machado's popularity, it even makes sense for Trump to disapprove of her publicly, as it grants the optics of even further distance from US influence, should she win in the future.
As a Jew, I will not allow Islamophobia to enter my heart. This is why I believe that all 100 US senators should be Muslim. We can only be safe as Jews if Muslims eradicate us. Through our extinction, we can show the world that we will not allow hate to defeat us. - Degenerate, Clueless, Self-Loathing, Imbecile Wood Cricket @PatinkinMandy
Would you believe @PBOnPoint blocked me?
Now how will I interact with his stupidity?
Replying to @paleochristcon @PBOnPoint @baroncoleman @RealCandaceO @IanCarrollShow @realstewpeters @buckleycarlson @CarriePrejean1 @LemmeReact @juliandorey
For what it’s worth, I also think @PBOnPoint is stupid.
And would encourage others to reply and let him know.
What, are we all government plants?

It is important to remember that the defense has access to literally millions of datapoints that the public does not have and does not need.
The defense has regarded online conspiracy theories that support their client as hostile to their aims, not supportive.
The defense doesn't want or need a "public investigation" because it is meaningless, ill-formed nonsense.
Public liars and public idiots have the same output even if their motivations differ: producing nonsense.
The defense knows Tyler is guilty because they have him and they have the data. This is why they are asking for three years before trial prep.
You don't ask for your innocent client to sit for three years in jail if you have any shot at proving his innocence. But you do keep your guilty client locked up and extend the window in the hopes of producing jury taint or hoping the prosecutors violate a rule and create a procedural victory.
They want either public interest to die down OR for the public "investigation" to sufficiently interfere with Tyler's fair trial rights.
The defense lost on removing the death penalty; winning a three year trial window gives them access to SOME leverage in plea negotiations. Utah wants to convict on a shorter timeline and that becomes a negotiation point for a plea. Do you want the death penalty bad enough to wait years or would life in prison now be preferrable?
Really good attorneys (like @aburkhartlaw, for example) are trying to help lead you to the well of reason and reasonable expectation. You should listen to them rather than people who are short on facts and wrong on law, like @baroncoleman and @DiligentDenizen.
And you should listen to me if you want to hear the same stuff, but I also call Baron and Diligent fucking morons who are unattractive.

The defense acknowledged in their latest discovery report that they have over 25,000 locations mapped from his CSLI data alone. They not only know his every movement that day, they know his entire pattern of life for weeks if not months leading up to it.

"Decentralized public investigation" means retarded people saying retarded things on Twitter spaces and literally nothing else.
If anyone wants to end the decentralized public investigation into who killed Charlie Kirk, how, and why, they must take down @RealCandaceO.
If there was a conspiracy to kill Charlie Kirk, then there is a conspiracy to cover it up.
And that cover up requires taking down Candace.
Remember when the government took a massive stake in AIG because it was too big to fail? With significant control over major transactions?
I don’t like government ownership either. But let’s not pretend it’s some brand new thing.

Democrats vote like it's the Democrat versus Satan.
Republicans vote like it's the Democrat versus the Republican versus Jesus, who didn't actually appear on the ballot so they might as well sit this one out.
One must never question the questioners.
The noble questioners are above that.
That’s why they never debate. It would be unfair for them to answer questions.

I was told immigrants make a country better. I await Haiti's ascendency to world power.
#BREAKING: Haiti says it's “overwhelmed” by illegals deported from the United States.
Gee - I wonder if they will be able to prove he was on campus.

Adding welfare to migration was a major change.
From 1900 to 1910, 76% of immigrants to America remigrated to their home countries.
From 1910 to 1920, it was 97%.
There was major political conflict over the disruption immigrants caused.
But we had no welfare state. Over time, we kept the best who assimilated.
Remigration is historically normal. What we are doing today is not normal because of the welfare state.

that's the tradeoff our system makes: elections and term limits ensure we prioritize short-term goals, leaving long festering issues like Iran largely unaddressed. the rhetoric during these midterms prove this

by dave's own logic: NK getting nukes means nobody can really mess with them. so by that logic wouldn't Iran getting nukes imply they would shut down the strait of hormuz and disrupt the economy anyway?
