Last Friday, I joined @RepRobertGarcia and my California colleagues for an unannounced oversight visit to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center.
What we witnessed was appalling, and consistent with the neglect I have been sounding the alarm about for the past decade: filthy living conditions, dirty water, moldy food, tattered mattresses, and inadequate medical care.
Every day Adelanto remains open is another day lives are in danger. SHUT IT DOWN NOW.

Columbia found Paul Nungesser not responsible after investigating Sulkowicz's allegation. The DA declined charges for insufficient evidence. Nungesser sued over the mattress project and settled with Columbia in 2017; the school stood by its finding.

This week I joined @ajsocal_ and @jamuseum to discuss the state of immigration in our country.
Trump's anti-immigrant agenda has trampled on the rights and due process of our immigrant communities, particularly AANHPI immigrants. Since Trump took office again, deportations of Asian immigrants have skyrocketed by 1,103%. In 2025 alone, deportations of Southeast Asian elders rose more than 20-fold compared to the year before.
Our immigrant communities contribute to every facet of American life. I will always stand with them.

I’m horrified by the brutal attack on a Sikh truck driver who was stabbed 17 times at a Wyoming rest stop. This comes amid rising hatred targeting Sikh and South Asian Americans, with even the Trump Department of Homeland Security recently posting a racist caricature of a Sikh truck driver telling him to "get off our roads" and "self-deport or find out."
Those spreading this hate, including officials in our own federal government, need to stop. Those who turn it into violence must be held accountable. And all of us need to stand together against both. America must be better than this. I’m praying for Mr. Singh’s full recovery and grateful to the family whose quick action helped save his life.
