Some awesome experiences this week.
Visited ETG to get the scoop on how the Phalanx platoons worked on recent trials. To say it was awesome is an understatement! 🤜💥🤛
Also got to visit the @SASC_1853 weapons collection & discuss future work while geeking out! 🤓
I love my job!
DEFOSC continues with block 3 starting today. The planning team and RCO’s have done a sterling job thus far.

On behalf of the Commanding Officer, The Corps would like to congratulate WO1 Brad Jackson on being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) on HMTK’s Birthday Honours List.
The MSM is awarded to military members who are of irreproachable character. A great achievement.
Just over a week since HMTKs Coronation…….still have goosebumps!

Life has rarely changed over the years in the world of @IBSBrecon Skill at Arms, although instructors have much more autonomy in the conveying of the objectives and how they are delivering the output.

These characters have formed the nucleus of what the SASC and marksmanship stand for today. Col Wilford was years ahead of his time and insisted every Officer passing through the School of Musketry be proficient in not only the firing, but the theory of Small Arms.

A nice addition to the Research Press library. An original signed picture of Colonel E.C. Wilford, Assistant-Commandant and Chief Instructor at the Hythe School of Musketry. @SASC_1853 @vickersmg

This board is in the Yeoman Warders Club, 'The Keys". The plaques represent each of the Yeoman Warders and has our cap-badge, rank, name and dates of service. In my case, @SASC_1853 1979-2005 (although I did not join the SASC until 1988). Sadly there will soon be only 30 😔

My grandfather was a great man. He’d have dismissed the comment if he heard me say it! He was QMSI Kermode in the @SASC_1853 and served in WWII. He was known for his limericks and on my 7th bday he wrote me this. I have treasured it ever since & know it by heart ♥️
..and further evidence of the capbadge diversity in the SASC in this School of Musketry still from circa 1860.
Thank you @ResearchPressUK for the link.

Speaking of diversity of cap badges - and uniforms for that matter... attached photograph is Rifle Volunteers at Hythe from the mid-1860s. The rifles are the muzzle loading .577 Pattern 1853 Rifle Musket.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the UK and the associated restrictions this brings, the decision has been made to cancel DefOSC 2021. This decision has been based on consultation with the Navy, Army and RAF representatives.

Soldiers from all Arms and Services are welcome to apply to the SASC. In fact, without the diversity of capbadges within the Corps we wouldn't be able to coach, mentor and advise across all areas of Defence.

As a #Londoner I joined as a JS in 1979 (Ballymena) and posted to the 2nd Bn in 1980. Although I left in 1988 to join @SASC_1853 I had made lifelong friendships. Not once was I made to feel 'different', I was first and foremost an #IrishRanger #OneFamily ☘ Faugh A Ballagh 🙂
Being able to use and adapt our instructional techniques is critical. Remote learning and virtual based interaction is the future.
