Our systematic review published in Endoscopy International Open summarizes the current evidence of ERCP for pediatric pancreas divisum
🧒 Children with PD are understudied. Even the SHARP RCT enrolled only adults
🔍 Only 8 retrospective, uncontrolled studies (n=247)
📏 Outcome definitions differed for every outcome
⚠️ PEP rates reached up to 21%
🎯 We need standardized outcome definitions and prospective pediatric trials to establish efficacy and better define safety

ACADEMIC VERSUS PRIVATE MEDICINE
I spent 20 years in academics, rising to Tenured Professor of Medicine before I left the U of Utah to start the Center for Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at Advent Porter Hospital in Denver as part of Peak Gastro.
Now, I am truly in a hybrid practice, mixing both academic and private practice but all in a private hospital setting. I am surrounded by trainees and we have our own Advanced Fellowship as well as a vigorous research program.
