🇺🇸 Another Minnesota food fraud figure is going away for a LONG time: 30 years for a $44 million scam built on fake kids' meals.
Salim Said, who ran a Minneapolis restaurant, claimed 6,000 meals a day under a federal COVID child food program. FBI cameras showed about 40 people a day.
He kept it up for 21 months, and the money went into a $1.2 million home, commercial real estate and an $87,000 pickup.
Ringleader Aimee Bock is already serving 42 years. Dozens of others have been convicted.
He wanted government-funded meals so badly. Now he’s got them, 3 a day for the next 30 years.

🚨BREAKING: A Somali imam who runs a mosque in Calgary is still wanted in Minnesota on criminal sexual conduct charges from nearly 20 years ago.
Abdi Elmy Hersy worked as a respiratory therapist at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury in 2006. Two female patients alleged he fondled them under their gowns during treatments and made sexual propositions. Washington County charged him with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct and criminal abuse. He left the United States, obtained refugee status in Canada, and an active arrest warrant remains.
Hersy, who now presents himself as Sheikh Abdi Hersy, has denied the allegations. He has said he wants to return to face the charges but claims immigration issues have prevented him from clearing his name. Canada previously moved to strip his refugee protection because of the U.S. warrant, but he successfully challenged that decision in Federal Court and kept his status.
He has served as an imam at Abu Bakr Musalla in Calgary and posts frequent religious and political commentary on Somali affairs. Minnesota revoked his respiratory therapist license years ago. The original charges have never been resolved in a U.S. court.
The case has drawn renewed attention as people note his continued public role despite the outstanding warrant.

Nur Omar Mohamed came to America as a refugee in the 1990s, and the New York Post now reports he was a full colonel in dictator Siad Barre’s army until the regime fell, the same army that leveled Hargeisa and killed tens of thousands of Isaaq civilians in what Somaliland calls its forgotten genocide.
Saeed Ibrahim, founder of the Somaliland Chronicle, says the colonel was posted to Hargeisa while the city was being shelled, and he puts the question plainly:
“Perpetrators cannot claim to be refugees at the same time alongside the same people that they brutalized.”
Nobody has shown the colonel personally took part in the killings, and he died in 2020.
Saeed’s point is narrower: when a regime collapses, its officers hide among the people they ran from, and Washington deported one Barre-era colonel last year who was found driving for Uber.
The congresswoman denies wrongdoing and calls the October 12 raid political.
Whether her father’s rank was ever disclosed on those forms is now the question the case may turn on.

The extracts detail the engagement outside the fortress walls, where the Dervishes' chief lieutenant Haji Sudi and the commander of Dervish forces in Sanaag, Ibrahim Boghol (both belonging to the Adan Madobe, Habr Je'lo), were killed in action facing the British assault. During the fighting, Muhammad Abdullah Hassan escaped from Taleh, pursued by the Camel Corps towards Halin (Xalin) and Bihan (Bixin). At Bihan, his thirty-man escort was overrun and his wives, children, and close relatives were captured.
Reaching a nearly dry well towards the Haud with three or four followers, Hassan had water drawn for himself and his horse. Whilst his surviving bodyguards set out into the desert to locate more water for him, Hassan slipped away again.
Upon returning with water to find him gone, the abandoned bodyguards walked into British lines and surrendered.
