NEW: The College Football Playoff cannot expand beyond 24 teams through the current six-year contract under the expansion agreement with ESPN, @RossDellenger reports.
The earliest it could expand again is 2032.

Sources: @SouthlandSports has approved the experimental use of the ABS Challenge system for conference play in the regular season, and in the conference tournament beginning in 2027, I’m told. Schools will handle regular season costs, conference the league tourney costs. The hope is that every school participates.
