Well, yea... if you're the one unaffected by the action, you would see it as unrelated. But here's the thing: Making prints has a well established history and very specific guidelines to protect both original creator and original buyer. So much so that federal laws exist to define the act. Any non-distinguishable print of an original is not a print but a reproduction... which is a nice way of calling it a fake. When you create a digital and then sell the same digital in another way, this is a reproduction... and ethically should be labeled so. Prints of 1/1's must be labeled so to keep the value on the 1/1... And, there are levels to this game... You have: Prints Limited Prints Artist Proofs Limited Editions Open Editions And Reproductions And, for each, specific language and specific numbers of copies, and specific labeling determines the covenant you make with the original buyer. Artists, who offer 1/1 art, then convert that covenant to "just kidding... I only meant 1/1 token or nft" are in breach of the implied agreement with their collectors. VARA (Visual Artists Rights Act) law talks about your rights and collector rights, and then state laws normally set standards for communicating what and how the work will exist. This is a moral standard more than anything. So that said, Do you have the right to make prints? YES! You have the right to make prints... of course! Should you make prints based on what you previously communicated? MAYBE! Depending on what you communicated. Anything communicated as a 1/1 should morally remain so. So make all the prints... you have the right. You also have the responsibility to ensure you: Understand they should differ, Understand their quantities determine their status, Understand your previously communicated marketing language, And, more importantly, your moral obligation to your original collectors.
