Thank you very much to the @novonordiskfond for a Distinguished Investigator grant making it possible to conduct the FutureShape Family study for prevention of childhood obesity. I am most grateful, looking forward to initiate the study.

Supported by a Distinguished Investigator grant, Professor Signe Torekov from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at University of Copenhagen will pioneer an innovative approach to prevent obesity in children. A study of 400 families dealing with obesity will consider how the weight and habits of parents affects their kids. Using AI to enhance physical activity levels, sleep and eating habits, the study hopes to change how we deal with childhood obesity. The ultimate goal is that healthier parents will lead to healthier children. The Distinguished Investigator grant is awarded as part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Research Leader Programme, which aims to enable outstanding research while supporting the development of research leaders. Replying to @eClinicalMed @Brunorm84
This study underscores the multifaceted approach to obesity management, where the integration of exercise with pharmacotherapy, such as GLP-1 receptor agonists, enhances long-term weight maintenance outcomes. It's fascinating to see the positive effects persist even after a year without treatment. This adds a valuable piece to the puzzle of sustainable weight management strategies. For more in-depth analyses and a broader context on biomedical questions like this, I recommend checking out sciqst.com. Healthy weight loss maintenance with exercise, GLP-1 receptor agonist, or both combined followed by 1 year no treatment
Addition of supervised exercise to obesity pharmacotherapy seems to improve healthy weight maintenance after treatment termination
