Science keeps learning more about COVID, and policy is always catching up. Researchers say it’s worth refreshing guidance as new evidence emerges, including how the virus spreads through the air and how we protect healthcare staff. 🎥 Watch: shh-uk.org/covid-19-health-p…

🚨BOOKLET: HAS IPC GUIDANCE IN SCOTLAND & WALES LEARNT THE LESSONS OF THE COVID PANDEMIC? (Spoiler: the answer is NO!) I’m honoured that the brilliant folks @SupportingHH_UK were able to use content from my thread & transform it into an amazing booklet: shh-uk.org/new-ipc-guidance-…
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿NEW IPC GUIDANCE Scotland has quietly introduced a brand new approach to respiratory infection prevention & control in healthcare. This change has MAJOR consequences for both patients & staff. The story behind it is quite extraordinary so grab a cuppa & I’ll explain… 🧵

We know #CovidIsAirborne. So why doesn’t our protection reflect that? SARS-CoV-2 spreads through infectious aerosols that can be inhaled. Does revised IPC guidance in Scotland and Wales reflect what we now know about respiratory transmission? shh-uk.org/new-ipc-guidance-…

Please also bear in mind that the NHS guidance which recommends just 6 air changes per hour in hospitals is “hopelessly out of date and completely unfit for purpose”, as highlighted by expert witnesses at the Covid Inquiry… /1

I also wanted to add a few additional points about the importance of VENTILATION in infection control… During Prof Beggs’ hearing, he described how the current hospital ventilation guidelines (for general areas & wards) are hopelessly out of date & completely unfit for purpose.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 IPC GUIDANCE Following on from my previous 🧵 about Scotland’s new approach to IPC guidance for airborne respiratory pathogens, some new docs have been published - including this flow chart ⬇️ Can you spot the dangerous flaw in this approach? 👀 Read on to find out… /1

Equivalent to 5 university hospitals just with admitted cvd pts.... then add the hosp acquired pts & staff. Multiple 1000s of bed days lost to the virus again.
Rise of COVID-19 in England. “While there were 950 hospital admissions for Covid in August, the total jumped to 4,939 in September”. Test positivity rose from 1.6% to 8%

I wonder who will be the first senior practising healthcare leader to decide that enough is enough and that it is time to stop infecting patients (and other staff) with avoidable, life-shortening airborne viruses? See below
Jfc. I thought this was the old one, where 74% of Covid cases in Welsh hospitals CAUGHT IT IN THE HOSPITAL. But no! This is current! And 71% of Covid cases in Welsh hospitals CAUGHT IT IN THE HOSPITAL. Have they thought of applying some ... infection control? At the hospitals?

🚨RUSSIAN LAB WORKER DEAD FROM PNEUMONIC PLAGUE. FEARS OF OUTBREAK. According to WHO, pneumonic plague is: ▪️The MOST virulent form of plague ▪️Transmitted via respiratory particles (ie. airborne) ▪️Can be fatal within 18-24 hours of onset, if untreated. themoscowtimes.com/2026/10/0…
🚨Breaking. There's been a pneumonic plague outbreak at a BSL-3 lab in Siberia, Russia.🚨 "Nearly 200 People Under Observation After Irkutsk Lab Worker Dies From Plague" - Moscow Times This is fact, and also the inciting incident in my book BIOLOGICAL WAR: A SCENARIO, which is unnerving. Will post more as I learn more, including from Russian speaking sources🧵 shorturl.at/De4kW

🚨NHS HOSPITALS DECLARING CRITICAL INCIDENTS These alerts have all been posted in the last 3 days. It’s not even October yet. Flu season hasn’t got going yet. This should not be happening… …and yet it is, because there’s another pesky virus we’re not allowed to mention 🤫
Dan O'Hara@skeuomorphologySep 28

Oh blimey. Not this again. This came up in the Covid Inquiry. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Of course respirators should be worn by infectious people - just not respirators with valves! It’s not exactly rocket science. But these IPC folks appear not to understand basic science.

In the UK, when masks were back in stock in summer 2020, the govt maintained the droplet lie. In fact, they maintain the lie even to this day. I have letters signed in the last year by Govt Ministers saying SC2 is droplet spread. You can read about the scandal in tweets below…
In the UK, those leading the pandemic response knowingly and deliberately lied that SARS2 was spread by droplet. They told HCWs they would be safe wearing FRSMs. The cover-up continues to this day. You can read about the scandal in press release linked below…

Nosocomial Covid Infections in Wales 'Number of inpatient Covid-19 cases in hospital in Wales' On 27 September 2026, at least 71% of inpatient Covid cases in Wales were the result of hospital-acquired SARS-CoV-2 infection... (PHW data and table)

This sentence in NHS Scotland’s new IPC guidance is a damning illustration of the sheer incompetence & ignorance of those who wrote it: “RPE should never be worn by an infectious person as the respirator filters incoming air & not the air being expelled by the wearer” ❌ WRONG!
