🧹Remember this broom? Now it’s sweeping up Scarborough Southwest. Huge thanks to Former Mayor @iamdavidmiller for your support! Scarborough Southwest can change the balance of power at City Hall, and it's time for a new generation to lead us forward. 1/2

These 32 #BloodBikes commemorate the 32 people killed on Bloor, Yonge & University in 20-years before bike lanes were built. After bike lanes were installed only one tragic loss of a life has occurred in 6-years since 2020. Bike lanes keep EVERYONE save. #BikeTO #ONPoli

I don’t think making driving easier is ever a good thing. I’m not 100% against shared taxi fleet, but the idea of privately owned AVs really will make congestion worse.

☠️ Everyone should be scared of bike lane removal... - Drivers don't want bikes in their lanes and don't want to lose on-street parking - Pedestrians don't want people riding e-bikes on sidewalks - People on bikes just don't want to die trying to get home

Yah, the opted for speed and travel time, which are interesting. However for sake of reporting being concise volume is more stable. That said, Bloor west has like 15-20k vehicles per day, so honestly not sure why someone is claiming 34k car trips. He needs a better fact checker.

Yes. There are also more people biking than walking. So should we rip out sidewalks too?

Yah. Thats true - but auto travel is fairly consistent. Also bike lanes are part of a wider set of road safety updates that make road safer for everyone not just cyclists - it's a safety system update

Updated data from city today shows significant increases in people cycling, based on new counts collected after installation

Please don't use one data point to make a trend! The full story was just published by the @TO_Cycling_Ped here. Please read and see how the road safety project is making a difference and reducing serious injuries and deaths for all road users! toronto.ca/wp-content/upload…

Curb extensions narrow the road for short sections by extending the curb into the roadway. They manage vehicle speeds, improve visibility, reduce pedestrian crossing distances, and increase space for pedestrian storage and street furniture. toronto.ca/wp-content/upload…

Bikes have always been on Bloor & will not go away...let's keep these people safe and separate bikes from car lanes!
Only around 40% of rush hour traffic at Bloor and Shaw in Toronto is made up of cars. Before the bike lanes on Bloor, over 80% of traffic was cars. Now more commuters pass through the intersection, although raw number of cars has decreased. If you build it, they will come.

We had sponsor presentations from @Uber_Canada and @CAA - these folks have a lot of financial motivation to make roads safer! It's a win-win partnership, great work @chrisjamesdrew for making this awesome connection happen! #OBS2026
